Job Description

Rondo Energy's mission is to eliminate 15% of global CO2 emissions in 15 years.

To accomplish this mission, Rondo is deploying low-cost, zero-carbon Rondo Heat Batteries to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy and to significantly decarbonize industrial processes that are commonly thought of as "difficult-to-decarbonize". The Heat Batteries are charged from intermittent renewables to provide high temperature, continuous heat for customers safely, reliably, at an unprecedented 98% efficiency, and at a cost point that is lower than any other method.

Rondo Energy is seeking an experienced Energy Markets Analyst to join our team and repower industrial heat at scale. Together, we aim to reduce world CO₂ emissions by 1% in 10 years, and 15% in 15 years.

About the Energy Markets Analyst Position

Key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Building out tooling to process large volumes of energy markets data in target areas worldwide, with a focus on intermittent renewable resources (wind and solar) 

• Performing analysis on current and future electricity and gas markets to direct Rondo’s growth strategy

• Evaluating potential hedging strategies for Rondo heat battery customers

• Assessing  the value of different charging speeds in various markets 

• Collaborating closely with the project development, strategy and sales team to identify the key strategic energy markets for Rondo’s heat batteries

The ideal candidate will have:

• 2+ years in the energy industry; renewable energy industry and/or commodity market experience a plus

• Advanced knowledge of the electric utility industry and electric energy markets, including trading, scheduling procedures, state and federal policies and regulations, and underlying physical infrastructure and networks

• Knowledge of data processing and data visualization tools

• Experience with scripting/statistical language (Python, R, Julia, Matlab, Javascript, etc.)

• Appetite for solving problems and developing new approaches

• Passion for contributing to the energy transition

• Ability to operate autonomously and self-direct toward the most important problems to work on

• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

    The role may require travel to customer or investor meetings in California.
