We are looking for a Wire Harness Designer to join our team. The goal of a Wire Harness Designer at Wisk is to ensure the highest level of integrity of mechanical wire routing and design. You will be part of the Mechanical Engineering function supporting the Electrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS) Product team.

Why we need you

  • With that vision in mind, we are looking for a Wire Harness Designer to join our EWIS team. The goal of the Wire Harness Designer at Wisk is to own the design and layout of wiring harness, while working with an multidisciplinary team of system engineers, electrical engineer, and manufacturing engineers to build the first fully autonomous all-electric aircraft that performs and operates safely in an urban air-mobility environment. In support of this goal, you will be part of the 
  • The successful candidate is highly motivated and results driven. Using strong understanding of first principals to mature designs. You will be working in a fast paced environment with the focus of developing the future of electric aviation.  

What you will do:

  • As part of the mechanical engineering organization, and deployed in an EWIS product team you will act as a Wire Harness Designer for a novel type of aircraft development targeting the autonomous UAM market
  • You will take ownership of Mechanical harness design and routing
  • Perform 3D wire routing using NX to support the integration and installation of harnesses in the vehicle 
  • Make design considerations for mass optimization, structural integrity, thermal consideration and safety
  • Support prototype Wire Harness work of both in-house and external harness manufacturers
  • Perform general mechanical engineering analysis to validate mechanical and thermal aspects of the design
  • Manage interface control models & drawings using TeamCenter 

What you have done:

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent
  • 5+ year experience in flight harness design
  • Harness 2D engineering drawing creation using Mentor Graphics Capital 
  • 3D Electrical Wiring and Harness routing using NX electrical routing
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of design first principles
  • Mechanical and thermal harness analysis

Desired:

  • Work on prior certified aircraft program
  • Knowledge of EMC, lightning and HIRF design considerations
  • Understanding of structural impacts of harness integration and maintenance
