Job Description

Director of EngineeringRad Power Bikes LLC – Seattle, WA
Lead teams that build, integrate and maintain the technologies supporting the business. Teams use technology to create innovative and frictionless experiences across our digital properties including our website, integration layer, backend services, data warehouse and internal applications. Engineering team works with product managers, project managers, UX designers and partners across marketing, retail and product to accelerate the business. Act as a change agent, responsible for leveraging the right technologiesto achieve business goals. Role is crucial in establishing technology vision for company, laying foundation and hiring and directing engineering teams to build the future across all aspects of the company’s technology.

Duties Include the Following:

  • Starting with the company’s vision for eCommerce, maximize current and future technological capabilities of existing platform.
  • Create digital and IRL experiences that offer unrivaled customer experience.
  • Establish middleware/integration layer providing flexibility and scalability as our global business grows.
  • Provide architectural thought leadership to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform, ensuring maximizing business value, integrating successive components/modules in right priority.
  • DevOps team leadership, supporting migration to DevOps in agile environment.
  • Deliver architecture and engineering initiatives/projects in fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Deliver functional features in small time durations.
  • Build scalable, high-performing and robust applications.
  • Assess and own data architecture, including Google Big Query, Stitch and MS Power Business Intelligence (BI).
  • Oversight of third-party technology systems that help drive business across marketing, finance, product, etc.

  • Remote/WFH optional. The Director of Engineering reports to the Chief Revenue Officer.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Requires a bachelor’s degree in software engineering or closely related field (U.S. or foreign equivalent)
  • Experience: 5 years in technology leadership

Skills and Special Requirements:

  • Experience must include the following:
  • 5 years developing technology teams
  • 5 and overseeing enterprise-level programs that require collaboration across
  • organizations.
  • 3 years with open source technologies within a high-volume e-commerce environment.
  • Leading Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) including best practices for integration into ERP, OMS and ecommerce platforms.
  • Architecture and development application and platform components based on service oriented architecture (SOA).
  • Cloud-enabled applications and cloud architectures – e.g. AWS, Azure, or Google.
  • Experience with Node JS, React and other programming/scripting languages.
  • E-commerce experience with Shopify platform, implementing a Headless commerce environment with a content management systems vs. Liquid templates.
  • Implementing and maintaining Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) application, such as Netsuite Cloud.
  • Implementing telemetry across ecommerce and technology platforms and operations processes.
  • Web-app performance fundamentals, performance/load testing, and tuning/optimizing for peak/holiday traffic and promotions.
  • Microservices architecture using AWS Lambda.
  • Web technologies: HTML5, Javascript, CSS/SASS, REST, JSON.
  • iOS/Android development and leading iOS/Android App Dev teams.
  • Git and Github workflows, Docker.
  • Enterprise middleware applications connecting Netsuite to systems.
