Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

You’ll be working in the Brand & Advertising team, reporting into our Brand Strategy & Management Lead. Your day to day will take you across the world of OVO as you partner with teams from across the business including product, comms and marketing.

What will I be doing?

We’re looking for a strategic mind to join our brand team - leading the development & deployment of brand messaging across the OVO Energy brand ecosystem. Helping us to tell the OVO story to customers in a coherent and logical way across touchpoints. This is an exciting opportunity to join an ambitious organisation during a time of crisis - and help shape their response to it.  

This role will help guide critical, varied and broad-reaching business decisions and requires a mix of strategic, analytical, intuitive and creative thinking. Strong stakeholder management and strong communication skills (written & verbal) will be key skills needed as the role will include leading large and diverse groups of teams towards consensus and driving recommendations with business leaders.

You will play a key role in identifying the stories we should be telling, to working out where & how we tell them:

Spot the story:

OVO is a large business - you should have a good eye for great stories we can tell - and upcoming cultural moments that we might need or want to talk about as a brand. This includes maintaining strong relationships with our propositions and growth teams to ensure we’re upstream of future changes and developments, helping to shape them through consumer & brand insight.

Design the messaging framework: 

  • Development of strategic cross-platform messaging frameworks (the how, when and to who) - both for tactical marketing moments, such as a large product launch, and for our overarching brand messaging. 
  • Help to translate insight into compelling messaging to help us connect with consumers in a creative way. You would have access to our in-house creative studio - a brilliant team of copywriters and our Head of Creative to help craft this messaging.
  • Work with our Insight teams to ensure that we have in place a robust programme of insight to inform our brand messaging approach.
  • Engage with our Corporate Communications team to ensure consumer brand messaging tells a consistent story to our corporate communications.

Support deployment of the messaging framework:

  • Work with teams to flight key messaging across touchpoints, selling in the approach and helping to ensure it’s applied in the right way - staying part of the project until delivery.
  • Help guide teams across the organisation to select the appropriate brand RTBs and products to engage our audience.

Is this the job for me?

Ideally you will have:

  •  Proven experience in Brand Strategy (Full Funnel), Product Marketing or Marketing Strategy roles - either in house or at an agency
  • 📊 Strong analytical skills, capable of balancing creativity with business results - comfortable working with data & research to share customer insights & messaging
  • 💬 Excellent communication skills, with penchant for simplifying the complex, and bringing others on the journey with you
  • 💪 Bold & confident thinking, challenging the status quo where appropriate
  • 👷 Proven ability in making things happen – translate solutions into creation and delivery of practical and workable marketing plans
  • 🗞 Intuitive ability to find the consumer angle to every story
  • 🌳 Passion for fighting the climate crisis

This is the first time we’ve had this role at OVO, so we’d also need someone who can spot opportunities to make an impact and go after them - helping to shape the role as we go.
