About This Role

We are looking for an energetic Senior Accountant who wants to help us to fulfill our mission of working with nature to reduce food waste and create abundance for all.  In this role you will be responsible for supporting the timely and accurate delivery of monthly financial statements and satisfying local compliance requirements for a growing global company.

The Senior Accountant's responsibilities include preparing financial reports, performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, assisting with audit preparations, completing local statutory requirements, and assisting with regional tax responsibilities. 

A successful candidate will have a solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and / or IFRS, financial analysis skills, strong Excel skills, be detail-oriented and organized and able to work both collaboratively and independently. 

This position will be a hybrid (work from home/office) opportunity based in Valencia with periodic travel required.  This position will report to the Regional Accounting Manager.

What You'll Do

  • Maintains financial records for corporate and subsidiary companies
  • Reconciles general and subsidiary accounts 
  • Prepare month-end general ledger journal entries
  • Review regional financial statements as part of month-end close
  • Track fixed assets by type and location 
  • Calculate monthly inventory cost adjustments
  • Perform periodic inventory counts and reconciliations
  • Prepare audit schedules for external auditors
  • Assist with the setup of new international entities
  • Maintains accounting controls in compliance with statutory financial, legal and tax requirements
  • Review ad-hoc filings prepared by local accounting & tax partners
  • Participate in the development and documentation of accounting policies and procedures
  • Identify areas for workflow process improvements, provide recommendations and execute on the changes
  • Play an active role in system enhancements and upgrades
  • Perform other duties and ad-hoc projects as assigned
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or other related field
  • 4-10 years of general ledger accounting experience preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant or Chartered Accountant license
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP or IFRS
  • Strong work ethic
  • International company experience
  • Able to prioritize concurrent deadlines
  • Conversational English and Spanish skills
  • Advanced excel experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Oracle experience preferred
  • Floqast experience preferred
