About the role:

Cruise is looking for an experienced Staff Technical Program Manager to deliver business-critical IT programs for our central business operations partnership team. Focus areas include but are not limited to Customer Technology (Customer Data Platform, Data Governance and Compliance, Marketing and Service Solutions) Within these domains, Cruise is looking to build a scalable stack of enterprise systems. As a Staff Technical Program Manager in IT, you will work cross-functionally to deliver solutions that have a direct impact on Cruises growth. You will work closely with the Senior Management of IT Enterprise Business applications to help them operate more effectively through program management. This is an evolving role that requires a highly resourceful, hard-working individual with the ability to partner, implement, and lead through influence.

In collaboration with IT Engineering leaders you will be responsible for driving project execution across all phases of software implementation, Agile practices, and working with upper management to identify business needs, business partners to define requirements, IT engineers to deliver solutions, and all of Cruise to ensure the solution works for them.

What you’ll be doing:

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and lead activities for technical programs and software implementation projects including conceptualization and planning through production, release, support, and expansion
  • Develop and maintain muli-year technical roadmaps aligned to business goals
  • Work closely with other TPMs in commercial operations and engineering to coordinate any cross functional dependencies and break down barriers to work
  • Perform project management activities including tracking and report on project progress, schedules, risks, and opportunities ensuring multiple team alignment
  • Work with partners throughout Cruise to drive technical and non-technical requirements

Planning

  • Contribute to annual, quarterly, and sprint planning for Customer Technologies
  • Partner with teams to define and document requirements and roadmap
  • Maintain intimate knowledge of multiple various systems across multiple platforms
  • Identify areas for improvement in process and inspire changes
  • Turn requirements and product specs into implementation plans that take cross-team dependencies, tech debt, and long-term roadmaps into account
  • Coordinate multiple dependency sets across multiple organizations
  • Work with Engineering Managers to calculate capacity and estimate effort for upcoming plans
  • Collaborate with Technical Leads and Engineering Managers to prioritize and drive projects

Execution and Delivery

  • Raise and coordinate with dependent teams to ensure work isn’t blocked
  • Create and adjust processes for lightweight engineering work tracking and execution
  • Provide status updates on progress towards results, including monitoring project / program health
  • Update planning schedule as needed
  • Monitor and flag ongoing risks, and address mitigation
  • Validate all functional and non-functional requirements have been met, such as latency, performance, scalability, and cost
  • Communicate schedule and progress to larger company program
  • Know how to know if there are problems, and how to fix them before they derail progress

What you must have:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in the focus areas of CRM, Marketing Tech, Payments, Data Platforms for both B2C and B2B organizations
  • Relevant experience working on global business technology implementations to enable commercial operations
  • Data Governance and Compliance knowledge regarding consumer data (GDPR, PCI, CCPA)
  • Strong eye for business with excellent communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills
  • Proven track record to deal with ambiguity in a constantly evolving business environment, resolve problems and offer impacting solutions
  • Organizational and political intelligence
  • Skilled at preparing and giving robust presentations using data and storytelling
  • Strong experience with Agile and tuning the Agile process for a team
  • Comfortable configuring and working with Jira
  • Can collaborate closely between business and technical teams
  • Ability to identify and act on opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency
  • Ability to confidently bring order and organization to any team
