Portuguese Translator (Volunteer)

Note: The following is an opportunity for flexible, part-time, volunteer work to address climate change. Please DO NOT APPLY if you are only looking for paid employment. A 6 months commitment is preferred. This is a remote-from-home position.

We are looking for action-oriented individuals who are excited to address climate change. As a startup, we are looking for people who will help build and scale our impact and at the same time are willing to roll up their sleeves to get stuff done! Responsibilities

• Improve the Portuguese version of the Earth Hero app. It is already available in Portuguese, but we could use more help to maintain and improve it.
• Advise on better customizing the Earth Hero app for users in Brazil, Portugal, and other Portuguese-speaking countries.
• Help translate the Earth Hero website into Portuguese.
• Support making the Portuguese app version easier to find by improving search terms so it gets discovered more easily.

Experiences useful in this role

• 3+ years fluency in Portuguese.
• Current with the latest Portuguese-language idioms and cultural references to allow for great translations.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Experience using CAT (Computer-Assisted Translation) software or open to learning.

Expectations

You will work remotely and on your own schedule. Roles work best with a minimum commitment of 6 months for 2 - 5 hours a week (or more if you like!). Because our all-volunteer team is spread throughout the world, we rely mostly on a combination of Slack and video calls to communicate.

If you possess a high level of self-motivation, work well independently, have strong collaboration skills, enjoy the opportunity to partner with like-minded individuals, and can commit quality time per week to help achieve team goals, we would love to hear from you.
