We are seeking a motivated, outstanding, and dynamic Soil Analysis Manager to lead our growing team. This person will be responsible for overseeing soil sample pre-processing and analysis, ensuring data quality, and communicating results to the Technology team. The ideal candidate has extensive hands-on experience in analytical chemistry, soil analysis, or similar  discipline with people management experience. The Soil Analysis team will generate data that plays a critical role in the development of world-class microbial products.

Location: Emeryville, CA

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead employees responsible for pre-processing soil samples and performing various soil analysis
  • Oversee data generation and review data to ensure high quality data output
  • Document, verify, manage and share large datasets with Technology team
  • Manage project timelines and deliverables
  • Communicate turnaround time and other key metrics to Operations and Technology team
  • Improve workflows in collaboration with Technology team
  • Procure the materials, regents and consumable for the soil analysis group
  • Maintain proper functioning of the equipment and laboratory instruments
  • Manage the waste disposal with an external company
  • Conduct all work in strict compliance with all applicable safety requirements, containment requirements, standard operating practices, and/or guidelines

Qualifications and Experience

  • B.S. or M.S. in soil science, chemistry, analytical chemistry, or a similar discipline  with 10 years of experience in reliability testing
  • Prior experience as lab manager, including overseeing team and managing linkage between daily activities and achievement of company objectives
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in parallel and execute tasks to consistently meet deadlines
  • Must have the ability to lift or carry up to 45 lbs
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.
