Job Description

RMI is seeking an experienced Learning leader to support our global organization of change leaders! This critical role will innovate, develop, and deliver innovative learning experiences and journeys at all levels of RMI.

Position Overview 

The Learning and Leadership (L&L) Director will lead the needs assessment, program design, and evaluation of RMI's learning and development program for our nearly 500 change leaders around the globe. They will guide our Learning strategy and partner with business leaders to develop solutions which inspire, engage, and prepare RMIers to transform energy use and lead inclusive, innovative teams. The successful candidate will also lead and design learning activities personally when appropriate. 

The L&L Director will report to the Director of People Experience and will lead the L&L Manager and L&L Specialist. We are a fast-moving team that models a growth mindset, creativity, and a focus on impact. Join us!

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead the development of RMI’s Learning strategy  
  • Design and deliver innovative, cutting-edge learning experiences, including cohort experiences and individual training activities 
  • Partner with People Team and business leaders to design a learning roadmap and journeys that supports our strategy  
  • Lead the people, organizational, and technical L&L investments that will support RMI success, including prioritizing and deciding when we will build and utilize internal capability and when we will outsource to expert partners 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • 10+ years’ experience designing and delivering innovative learning and leadership programs including cohort experiences, classroom training, workshops, and interactive practice 
  • 6+ years’ experience leading teams to achieve impact 
  • Experience using adult learning and instructional design principles to conduct needs assessments and develop training programs and content 
  • Strong consulting, problem-solving, and collaboration skills; experience diagnosing and solving business challenges in partnership with others  
  • Strong communication skills, active listener, and ability to synthesize complicated information clearly 
  • A champion of inclusion; able to develop strategies and content relevant to a diverse and global audience 
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of multiple projects and competing priorities 
  • Comfortable in a fast-moving, collaborative, and ambiguous environment 
  • Tech savvy; proficient in PowerPoint, MS Teams, Outlook, and Zoom  
  • Our work is global and our workforce is distributed. Depending on location, 5-10% travel may be required and working past normal business hours is occasionally necessary 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience developing scalable learning solutions for a fast-growing organization 
  • Experience with energy/climate-change or mission-driven organizations 
  • Experience facilitating workplace style assessments such as DiSC  
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems and elearning development tools 
  • CPLP, graduate certificate, or Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Organizational Development or other L&D/HR discipline is nice to have; experience is more important 

Location

We are a remote-ready company with team members around the globe. Our beautiful and welcoming offices are available for meetings or focused work, whether you are traveling through or living nearby. This role can be located from anywhere in the Continental United States. 

We provide you with the essential IT equipment plus a one-time home technology payment and a monthly work from home/commuter allowance to ensure you have a comfortable home office set up and necessary supplies. 

We love seeing each other in person! We occasionally gather for shared time together like retreats and learning experiences. Be ready to travel for occasional in-person meetings (and of course, we cover travel costs). Some roles may require more travel, which will be discussed during the hiring process.

Compensation 

RMI compensates based on the level and requirements of the role. Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. It is anticipated that the selected candidate will join at the minimum to mid salary range of $117,000-$138,000. You would also have an additional 20% bonus target!
