Role DescriptionWe are looking for a hands-on, resourceful engineering co-op to join our battery products cell engineering team. This team is responsible for testing and analyzing the electrochemical performance of Form’s product cell to drive improvements to test stands, mechanical cell designs, and active materials. As a member of the team, you will help improve test functionality, provide continuous improvement to product scale cell test reliability, as well as support data pipeline and quality stemming from cells on test. You will work closely with a talented group of mechanical, manufacturing, electrical, and battery engineers to improve cell performance and our testing capabilities. What You'll Do:

  • Develop measurement methods pertaining to resistivity of batteries and compatibility of cell materials
  • Develop automation tools for real-time cell readouts for efficiency metrics, as well as tools for data interpretation
  • Troubleshoot cell related issues and perform failure mode analysis on end-of-life cells
  • Write and modify test scripts for testing the performance of Form cells and cell components
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for test troubleshooting 
  • Aid in the improvement of test stand functionality through workflow or materials improvement

What You'll Bring:

  • Currently enrolled collegiate student with ≥ 2 years of study completed towards a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, material science, or similar field
  • Laboratory experience with handling of hazardous/caustic chemicals
  • Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python and/or MATLAB
  • Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills
  • Enjoys a fast paced work environment, but is also committed to strong note-taking
  • Experience with use of pumps, airflow systems, and their associated instrumentation is a plus.
