Job Description

We are looking for a Director of Quality to join our group as a key leader of Quality working collaboratively with Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Customer Support and Operations. This position will be responsible for developing and deploying Motiv’s technical and regulatory compliance activities and will work cooperatively and cross-functionally with all areas of the Motiv team, especially the Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations teams.

As a small and growing company, we are critically dependent on our team members’ leadership, enthusiasm, creative problem solving, and self-motivation across a wide range of both technical and nontechnical disciplines. Responsibilities include effectively using quality tools and processes, through practical cross-functional leadership appropriate for a scale-up organization, to drive objectives to successful conclusion in a timely manner. Candidates should enjoy getting their hands dirty and must be comfortable analyzing complex systems, and collaborating with subject matter experts.

Responsibilities:

● Lead and work collaboratively to inspire understanding, and implement all aspects, of quality encompassing product, manufacturing, supply chain, warranty and service across Motiv Operations. This includes standards/requirements, current production customer quality, future product development quality, and, all relevant areas of the value stream such as suppliers.
● Collaboratively develop and support quality objectives & strategic plans. Work across functions to support effective tactics, implementation and learning.
● Determine, track, and deliver key system metrics - integrate metrics in the product development process to ensure quality is built-in at the right concurrent early development stage
● Implement Failure Mode Avoidance techniques throughout organization for Prediction, Prevention, and Protection of quality issues and devise risk mitigation solutions
● Represent Company with Customers to articulate quality systems, review issues, provide feedback and provide permanent corrective action
● Institutionalize practical tools (8D, A3, Systemic Root Cause Analysis, six sigma, statistical methods) in a simple and easily understandable way and continually improve the output.
● Coach, mentor, lead the understanding and application of quality as a fundamental deliverable embedded into all we do. Raise the capability of all areas (Planning, Product Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Program Management and Customer Service) to develop into a high performing team.

Qualifications and desired skills:

● BS in engineering disciplines or equivalent, additional advance degree a plus
● 15+ years of experience in related quality engineering position in automotive or electronics industry
● Exceptional knowledge of quality assurance (requirements, standards, tools, processes) including new product development and launches. Deep statistical and problem-solving capability and credibility to apply it for a start-up in process of scaling up.
● Knowledge and experience of environmental, reliability, and safety requirements for automotive applications
● Deep, hands-on expertise in evaluating current state of quality, effectively develop the appropriate strategy and tactics, and use the right quality management tools and processes to raise capabilities and achieve measurable results.
● Automotive experience a strong plus, with expertise in APQP, PPAP, MSA, SQC, Six Sigma, SAE/ASTM/ISO Standards & Materials and Safety/Compliance standards.
● Strong understanding of engineering & manufacturing processes and process control
● Ability to lead, manage and deliver multiple projects across different geographic locations, working remotely, individually, or in teams.
● Ability to work in fast-paced development and manufacturing cross-functional environment
● A team player with strong communication skills. Must possess a sense of urgency. A self-starter who can independently prioritize and manage multiple competing tasks.
● Proficient in Microsoft office, Google Suite, Jira and other software systems like Plex.
● Excellent cross-functional communication and collaboration – simplifying and providing practical, clearly applicable solutions
● Excellent written and verbal communications across technical and non-technical stakeholders
● Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally
