The Workplace Technology team as part of the Enterprise engineering is an exciting and a fast-evolving engineering group within Cruise IT. The team is responsible for identifying, designing, implementing and supporting the applications to create a streamlined workplace experience for Cruisers. As a Senior / Staff IT Engineer on the team, you will be leading the technical delivery of a wide variety of solutions under Workplace tools and technologies along with process automation and directly chipping in towards improvement of employee experience at Cruise. You will be driving strategic cross functional initiatives, technology assessment and end to end solution delivery by partnering with various technology teams including IT Ops, Enterprise Applications, Security, Identity, Infrastructure and business teams.

What you’ll be doing?

  • Evaluate, innovate, develop, implement, and support any variety of internal SaaS Engineering automation systems geared to produce efficiency at scale
  • Define and establish SaaS Engineering standards related to various automation and Workplace collaboration technologies
  • Lead the Workplace Technology domain by aligning business requirements, IT strategies, detecting critical deficiencies, and recommending solutions for continuous improvement
  • Serve as the domain expert on implementation, management, and support of Workplace technology products and IT applications
  • Assess the systems architecture currently in place and working with IT applications and IT operations teams to recommend solutions to improve it
  • Provide recommendations to end users, IT teams and leaders on standard methodologies and standardization in implementing and using processes within the IT Apps ecosystem
  • Develop metrics and dashboards to provide end-users and business leadership with meaningful operational/performance metrics and status reports
  • Lead on problem resolution, team decisions, and project planning
  • Support multiple projects, including set-up and management of users, project roles, security, and plug-ins
  • Design, develop, support and manage integrations to internal and external systems as required
  • Deliver high quality software using Agile/Scrum development methodologies
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on improvements to systems, tools, and processes
  • Support technical requirements gathering, technical gap analysis, and contribute to backlog grooming
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams in designing, implementing and integrating the business applications

What you must have?

  • Information Technology application management, engineering and solution delivery experience (8+ years) and experience in technical / engineering lead roles (4+ years).
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, engineering or related field.
  • Progressively related experience in design, development, and implementation of highly scalable, high-volume software systems, applications and major SaaS solutions
  • Experience with process design, architecture, implementation, and solution delivery of secure & scalable services
  • Programming: Java, JavaScript, or Python (proficient to expert level)
  • Experience in platform management: monitoring tools (e.g. Datadog, Humio or similar) and Software Performance Optimization (memory, CPU, scaling, etc...)
  • Experience with cloud implementations (PaaS, IaaS) in Azure, AWS or GCP
  • Ability to lead and drive work independently across functions and collaborate with all levels of users and management
  • Must be diligent, self-organized, be committed to quality and capable of tracking multiple work streams simultaneously
  • Ability to work in a fast-changing, dynamic, and agile environment, including the ability to manage time and maintain an excellent work ethic
  • Candidate must have mentoring and guidance skills to provide oversight and direction to contractors and internal members of the software development team
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations
