As part of our continuing growth in this high technology market, the Medical, Life Sciences and Scientific Group is recruiting for a Design Specialist- Electronics in Waterloo !The Design Specialist – Electronics (III) is responsible for designing schematic and layout with a system-level perspective and making camera design contributions both individually and as a team.What You Will Do:<ul><li>Design electrical circuits for machine vision camera test boards and camera boards.</li><li>Design Printed Circuit Board (PCB) stackup and layout plan.</li><li>Work with the PCB Layout team to design and implement the circuits on PCB.</li><li>Uphold the design standard of Teledyne DALSA in terms of schematic entry and component selection.</li><li>Ensure the board design is optimized for cost, manufacturability and testability.</li><li>Write design review documentations and hold design review meetings.</li><li>Run electrical circuit simulations.</li><li>Debug and bring up new board design.</li><li>Troubleshoot existing board design in labs and on production floor.</li><li>Optimize machine vision imaging performance on the system level.</li><li>Rework circuits on PCB with soldering iron.</li><li>Assist the production team to ensure on-time deliverable of products to the customers.</li><li>Equip with a system design mindset and work in a cross-functional work environment that involves electrical, firmware, FPGA, mechanical, thermal and test designs.</li><li>Facilitate the dissemination of technical design information and lessons learnt to technical designers at Teledyne DALSA.</li><li>Prepare for and give presentations about electronics design to both technical designers and managers.</li><li>Collaborate with other technical designers on new camera design ideas and implementation concepts.</li><li>Respond promptly to requests made by the production team or the customers.</li></ul>What You Need:<ul><li>A minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience</li><li>Electrical circuit design using any of the following circuit building blocks:  ADC, DAC, SMPS, LDO, Op-amp, clock generators, buffers, FPGA, microcontrollers, and fiber optic transceivers.</li><li>Schematic entry using software tools such as Siemens PADS.</li><li>Usage of oscilloscopes and multimeters.</li><li>Knowledge some of the communication protocols:  I2C, SPI, UART, USB, and Ethernet.</li><li>Experience in multi-Gigabit signal circuit design on PCB.</li><li>Experience in board and cable interconnect solutions.</li></ul>Preferred Skills/Experience:<ul><li>Experience in scientific, medical or other high-performance and high-reliability product designs is preferred</li><li>Lean and agile orientation is preferred, particularly for those with a demonstrated ability in design thinking and innovative problem-solving.</li></ul>What we offer<ul><li>Competitive compensation and comprehensive health benefits</li><li>Progressive vacation plan and paid holidays</li><li>Retirement savings plans with company match</li><li>Educational assistance and career development support</li><li>Opportunities to work on globally impactful technologies</li></ul>What happens nextApply online and our Talent Acquisition team will review your application.
