SUMMARY

Nexamp is seeking a Business Development Director to lead the development of distributed energy resource projects in the Northeast region, as well as supporting the Business Development leadership team with strategy, goal and product development. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record with 5+ years of solar or comparable energy industry experience. The individual hired to fulfill this role will lead the origination and development of ground, rooftop and other types of distribution-scale solar and energy storage projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for all phases of project development of distributed energy resources (including but not limited to solar, energy storage, and EV charging systems), from origination to start of construction. Also responsible for supporting Business Development leadership team with market-based strategies, goals and product offerings through development of broad market expertise, as well as internal and external collaboration with stakeholder groups and industry organizations. Key responsibilities include:

  • Site origination, site control negotiation, permitting, utility interconnection, tax negotiation and other development needs.
  • Development of long-term relationships with property owners, energy users and other project stakeholders.
  • Effective communication with project stakeholders and community members to facilitate project permitting and other initiatives.
  • Fostering support from state, county and local governments, community groups and project abutters.
  • Relationship and scope management of external consultants as needed in conjunction with project permitting activities.
  • Active management of development schedule and budget to ensure timely and cost-effective solutions across Nexamp’s pipeline in relevant markets.
  • Support of internal finance, engineering, and construction teams to facilitate successful project financing and construction.
  • Development of sales presentations, proposals and other materials as needed to support project development efforts.
  • Close coordination with Business Development leadership team in developing and implementing effective strategies, defining product offerings and achieving specific team-wide goals.
  • Close coordination with Business Development associate and developer teams to develop and implement effective origination and project development strategies.
  • Collaboration with industry stakeholders and working groups to advance Nexamp’s development objectives in relevant markets.
  • Hiring process oversight for Business Development resources, as needed.
  • Regular travel is required; some evening and weekend work required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five or more years of solar industry experience in a business development role, with a successful track record in project development and stakeholder management.
  • Effective engagement in market-level development issues, including interconnection, permitting and community outreach, preferred
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective team leader and collaborator.
