Job Description

Twelve is a new kind of chemical company built for the climate era. Our breakthrough technology eliminates emissions by turning CO2 into essential products. We are a team of scientists, engineers and problem solvers on a mission to fundamentally shift the way the world addresses climate change and lead the transition to a fossil free future with our carbon transformation technology.

The business development team at Twelve is seeking an entrepreneurial Project Development and Strategy Intern for the Summer of 2022. The team is responsible for building the pipeline of deployment sites for Twelve’s E-Jet and other products, including strategy, site selection, carbon dioxide sourcing, electricity sourcing, and logistics.

Job Brief

In this role, you would be part of a small but impactful business development team, reporting to the VP of Project Development and Partnerships and collaborating closely with Twelve’s other commercial leaders. You’ll join the team at an extremely high leverage time as we establish our project strategy for scaling Twelve’s deployments over the next decade. The role will be a great mix of high-level strategic thinking, detailed analysis, and getting out into the field to visit sites and meet with local partners directly.

The core objectives for the role will be to support the strategy of Twelve’s project development work, and take initial leadership on executing that strategy on the ground. You’ll be challenged to balance competing strategic priorities and by getting your foot in the door of our ideal partners. You’ll come away from the summer with a playbook of skills for how to establish and begin executing a scaling strategy for a climate tech company.

What You Will Do

  • Advance the company’s strategic framework for how we prioritize competing factors in project sites.
  • Conduct desktop research to build our pipeline of potential project locations, including researching local source of carbon dioxide, electricity, utility infrastructure, logistics, and other factors.
  • Conduct in-person visits with potential project partners to evaluate opportunities and ground-truth information.

Who You Are

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or advanced degree in a relevant field, such as a MBA or master’s in environmental management
  • Knowledge of carbon capture technologies, utility rate structures, and other aspects of the potential role
  • Strong Excel modeling skills
  • Geographic Information Systems or advanced data analysis skills a plus
  • Excitement about getting out into the field and traveling to sites
  • Passion for sustainability
