Job Description

Edacious is seeking a motivated Junior Engineer to support instrumentation prototyping and development to build new hardware and embedded software to measure food properties. 

The Job

  • Supporting the Engineering team in the development of instrumentation to measure food quality.
  • Populating & reworking circuit boards, assembling test fixtures, running hardware tests, writing test reports, debugging hardware, and assembling prototypes.
  • Write and review code (Python) for embedded software within prototype instruments.
  • Overseeing the purchasing of off-the-shelf components, organizing, and maintaining lab areas, and operating & maintaining lab equipment
  • Writing and maintaining SOPs for lab equipment as well as managing inventory, incoming shipments, creating processes for managing, and controlling inventory.
  • Performing Quality Assurance (QA) tasks to ensure lab is operating safely and at full capacity.

You ideally have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, physics, computer science or equivalent engineering curriculum.
  • Previous experience as an engineering technician and/or related experience.
  • Desire to learn more about instrumentation.
  • Any experience with programming or computer aided design is a plus.
  • Advanced computer and appropriate application skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of circuit theory.
  • Excellent knowledge of mathematics, including algebra and geometry.
  • The ability to communicate about complex technical matters and to analyze and correct complex testing and systems issues of a broad scope using independent judgement.
  • Experience completing detailed documentation accurately and to work under pressure with changing priorities.
  • Excellent communication skill both written and verbal.

Compensation & Other Details

  • Job is based in the Boston metro area with office locations in Marlborough and Lincoln, MA.  This job requires you to be on-site 5 days a week.
  • Benefits include healthcare, dental, and vision insurance, and 401k. We offer unlimited PTO, sick leave, and paid caregiver leave, including six weeks primary caregiver leave, two weeks secondary caregiver.
  • The role is based in the Boston Metro Area as the role requires team collaboration on the development of instrumentation between our offices in Lincoln and Marlborough. It is expected that you have a drivers license to visit both locations.
  • Candidates will be required to go through a background check and provide references from past work experience.
  • Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
