It will process up to 300,000 tonnes of waste annually, generating sustainable electricity for thousands of homes while reducing landfill. ACCIONA is delivering this complex infrastructure project with cutting-edge technology and a strong focus on environmental outcomes.</p><p></p><p><b>About the opportunity </b></p><p><span>The Environmental Manager is responsible for leading environmental compliance, performance and </span><span><span>sustainability outcomes at the Energy-from-Waste facility. The role ensures full compliance with</span> </span><span><span>environmental licenses, regulatory obligations and corporate standards, while supporting safe and</span> </span><span><span>efficient plant operations. </span></span></p><p></p><p><span><span>This position plays a critical role in managing emissions, waste feedstock</span> </span><br><span><span>compliance, residue management and environmental risk, ensuring the facility operates to the highest</span> environmental and community standards. </span></p><p></p><p><b>Responsibilities</b></p><ul><li>Lead environmental compliance across licences, approvals, regulatory reporting, and regulator engagement, ensuring adherence to legislative, contractual, and management system requirements.</li><li>Manage environmental monitoring programs including air emissions (CEMS), water, noise, odour, waste, and residue management, analysing data trends and driving environmental performance improvements.</li><li>Develop and maintain Environmental Management Plans, ISO 14001-compliant management systems, legislative registers, compliance frameworks, and environmental controls.</li><li>Lead environmental incident reporting, regulator notifications, investigations, root cause analysis, corrective action implementation, and communication of lessons learned to prevent recurrence.</li><li>Plan and conduct environmental audits, compliance inspections, and assurance activities, driving non-conformance management, document control, compliance verification, and continuous improvement.</li><li>Act as the primary liaison for regulators, clients, communities, and project stakeholders, managing environmental communications, incident responses, monitoring exceedance notifications, training, and risk escalation.</li></ul><p></p><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><p style="text-align:inherit;"></p><p style="text-align:left;"><b>Required Skills and Competencies</b></p></div></div></div></div></div></div></div><div><ul><li>Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.</li><li>7+ years’ environmental management experience in a regulated industrial environment, including licensed facilities.</li><li>Strong expertise in environmental compliance, emissions monitoring, and ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.</li><li>Proven ability to manage regulator relationships and navigate EPA/DWER regulatory frameworks.</li><li>Knowledge of Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards (ASRS) and National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) requirements.</li><li>Experience with Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) and availability to provide on-call environmental incident support when required.</li></ul></div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><p></p><p>ACCIONA has been given the Top Employer 2022, 2023, 2024 &amp; 2025 certification in Australia, which certifies the company's commitment to excellence in human resources management and those who focus on putting their people first through their exceptional HR policies.
