Job Description

EnergyHub empowers utilities and their customers to create a clean, distributed energy future. The Senior Product Marketing Manager is responsible for shaping the external perception of our company’s products and services in order to help drive sales. They serve as a crucial link between the markets we serve and the products and services we develop. They will define our value proposition externally in a way that clearly resonates with our customers and prospects in order to drive growth and create opportunities for us to sell current and future solutions.  They inform the development of new products and services by synthesizing market information (client & partner feedback, RFPs, policy, competitor intel) and client success and sales feedback on what is working and what is not into insights that inform positioning, roadmap, and go-to-market strategy. They will have existing experience in product marketing organizations and be able to integrate best practices into EnergyHub’s growing product marketing domain.

Specific areas of responsibility include:

Market intelligence 

  • Proactively gather market intelligence to identify industry and competitive trends.  Synthesize market information into insights that inform positioning, roadmap, product/solution design, and go-to-market strategy
    • Regularly talk with utilities, partners, and regulatory agencies - keep tabs on what’s working, what’s not, and use that to continually improve our product strategy, messaging, marketing plans, and sales collateral
    • Deeply understand your buyer’s needs, wants, buying process, and what it takes to make your product their obvious choice.  Develop materials to support different buyers and different stages of the sales cycle
    • Conduct RFP analysis to identify feature trends and translate win/loss data into recommendations for the product roadmap and go-to-market plans
    • Create process/structure to regularly share market intelligence to educate multiple stakeholders
  • Engage with all industry analysts to ensure we are uniquely represented in relevant market research reports and thought leadership content
  • Serve as an expert outward and client-facing resource for EnergyHub’s product line
  • Build compelling business cases informed by market intelligence to justify solution investments

Sales enablement

  • Design and deliver compelling and consistent content to support the full client life-cycle informed by input from key stakeholders
  • Equip sales team with talking points on core use cases, specific personas/buyers, and our market positioning 
  • Provide feedback on pitches, RFPs, and client facing documentation to ensure alignment with positioning and solution definition
  • Ensure marketing resources are consistently aligning sales and marketing teams on core use cases, personas, customer profiles, and competitive differentiation
  • Develop training plans to ensure the sales team can effectively sell the product and CS can effectively promote new features and solutions
  • Manage the agenda and content development for EnergyHub’s annual user conference

Defining solutions 

  • Create compelling messaging, positioning, pricing, and go-to-market strategies and plans for new product and service offerings
  • Develop product positioning that articulates the value of our solutions and how they solve our clients’ problems, and translate this positioning into marketing strategies and customer-facing materials 
  • Develop product marketing briefs that define all EH solutions (including services) and their usefulness to the buyer for external use 
  • Describe current product features and service offerings for external consumption and understand which clients are using them, for what purpose, and the value they deliver
  • Work with Client Success, Program Marketing, and other internal data analysts to extract relevant solution insights 
  • Own overall knowledge management system for all of the above for internal and external audiences
  • Help envision future solutions in response to market needs and demands; partner with the sales engineer and PM architecting solutions for sales opportunities

GTM strategy

  • Manage product launch projects hand-in-hand with product management. You’ll coordinate cross-functionally on product definition & success criteria, pricing, differentiation, marketing plans, sales collateral & training, and sales execution
  • Develop EnergyHub’s enterprise pricing framework
    • Interpret customer value, industry benchmarks, competitive intel
    • Gain buy-in from key teams regarding pricing structure and composition
    • Help articulate value we deliver in relation to pricing (across all of our prices)
