Covid Vaccination Policy

At CleanCapital, we value and prioritize a safe work environment and require all employees who will be physically entering any CleanCapital office to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Individuals with medical issues or religious beliefs or practices that prevent them from getting the vaccine may request an exemption from the vaccine requirement. Employees will be expected to attend 2+ in person team meetings on an annual basis. 

This position can be a remotely based role, however we would prefer that the individual be based in the NYC metro area. 

Position Summary

The Director of Development will manage CleanCapital’ developer relationships, develop targeted greenfield projects for CleanCapital, and conduct targeted development work for optimization of certain distributed generation power projects in the CleanCapital portfolio.

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer and working closely with CleanCapital’s President and Head of Business Development, this role is responsible for pre-construction projects within CleanCapital. This role will support CleanCapital’s growing portfolio by providing developer insight into business development, acquisitions, construction and asset management functions across CleanCapital, as well as overseeing development projects.  

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage CleanCapital’s relationships with external developers, including review and oversight of early-stage development projects and pipelines
  • Provide input into project requirements and preferences, as well as expected development budgets, for projects developed by CleanCapital’s development partners
  • Provide assistance with key gaps in developer partner contributions, including interconnection, permitting and offtake arrangements
  • Conduct greenfield development for targeted CleanCapital projects
  • Participate in strategic initiatives to identify and develop new target markets
  • Work with construction and technical asset management teams on any pre-construction interconnection or permitting requirements
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned
  • Travel expected

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.

Technical Skills and Experience

  • At least 5+ years of experience developing solar projects in the US
  • Expertise in all aspects of development, including land acquisition, interconnection, permitting, environmental, procurement, and early stage engineering
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing successful business growth strategies with power generation, electrical transmission, renewable energy projects, mining, oil & gas, technology clients
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain long-term relationships with all stakeholders in the project development lifecycle
  • Previous project management experience with honed skills including cross-functional team management, due diligence, logistics, budgeting, and scheduling
  • In-depth understanding of pre-construction design and development procedures and project management principles
  • Have a passion for the renewable energy industry, with a deep understanding of solar and storage development
  • Excellence in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
