Job Description

Who are we?

Sealed is a climate tech company on a mission to stop home energy waste and electrify all homes.

Sealed designs, manages, and finances home weatherization and electrification projects, making it easy and affordable for people to be more comfortable while using less energy. Our proven holistic approach can reduce energy use by 50% and takes a home completely off of fossil fuels with upgrades like high-performance insulation, air sealing, and heat pump HVAC. Our expert team designs the right solution, matches top-rated local contractors, and manages the project start to finish. Sealed covers the upfront costs, and we’re accountable to impact: if we don’t cut energy waste, we don’t get paid.

Sealed, one of Fast Company’s top ten most innovative energy companies of 2021, is venture backed and based in New York City. Learn more at sealed.com.

What will you do?

As Sealed’s first full-time data engineer, you will have a unique opportunity to architect and build world class software for a Series B, Clean-tech, company. You will work with a world-class team of product and engineering leaders to design, build, and deploy data products within our cloud environment (GCP).  We are creating exciting applications that make it easy for homes to reduce energy waste, eliminate carbon emissions, and fully electrify. The products you create will allow Sealed to scale to millions of homes.

Your north star is creating data products and pipelines that can design and deliver a clean home renovation project with minimum human interaction. In order to meet this challenge, you will work closely with data scientists, product managers, designers, software engineers, and other business stakeholders to prioritize development and determine the best strategies to maximize business value. You will work in an agile environment, creating sprints based on business and technical infrastructure needs.

What success looks like

As a Data Engineer, you build the right things in the right way. With ample opportunity to work independently, you also collaborate with your delivery team to come up with the appropriate engineering solutions. You act as a leader and are not afraid to engage other members of the team to clarify specifications and business goals. You build trust with your team through active listening and proactive communication.

Most importantly, by working diligently and collaboratively, you create results. Your data products move metrics, delight customers, and improve the quality of homes and the environment.

You know that the pace of development accelerates with intelligent investments in infrastructure and documentation. You are a critical member of the Sealed Engineering department, which is a shining example of agile development best practices and empowering teams.
