EHS Engineer, Senior Member Technical Staff

The ideal candidate has a passion for supporting the development and maintenance of EHS programs to ensure compliance, injury prevention, and risk mitigation.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Participate in the design reviews of new process equipment.
• Should be able to provide code requirements for equipment installation and building construction.
• Take effective steps to ensure that all required records are prepared and maintained.
• Conduct and document regular inspections of safety equipment.
• Work with vendors, consultants and provide Safety feedback to comments from City
• Participate in regular area inspections, document corrective actions, and track closure.
• Coordinate and/or deliver EHS training.
• Use and manage an online learning management system.
• Record environmental parameters.
• Monitor hazardous waste handling and storage.
• May participate in regulatory inspections or assist in the investigation and preparation of reports on injuries.
• Support development and completion of environmental/sustainability metrics.
• Actively participate in Emergency Response Team and Safety Committee activities.
• In support of 5S initiatives, work with employees to ensure a clean, safe, and balanced workplace.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical or engineering, or related fields.
• 3 years of work experience in the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) field.
• Work in a constantly evolving environment with Facilities, Hardware, and R&D leaders, and staffing at all levels.
• Ability to approach sophisticated problems by actively seeking information and new insights from a variety of sources, consistently looking for novel ways to solve problems, and mastering unfamiliar information, tasks, and situations quickly and optimally.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• MS in chemistry or engineering fields.
• Experience working within a battery or automotive operations and/or manufacturing teams.
• Strong data management and analysis skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Work with airtight isolation chambers and/or wear neoprene or vinyl gloves for 15-30% of the time.
• Frequently reach above shoulder height and below the waist.
• May be required to use hand or power tools.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, crawl, lift up to 30 pounds, push and extend arms.
• Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
