Running Tide is a global ocean health company. Our fast-growing, multidisciplinary teams of world-class scientists, engineers, and maritime operators, design and implement interventions that rebalance Earth’s carbon cycle, decarbonize global supply chains, restore marine ecosystems, and revitalize coastal communities. Our corporate operations, business development, communications, and policy teams support Running Tide’s front-line workers in scaling our interventions to tackle humanity’s most urgent challenges: restoring ocean health and combating climate change.
Our team is pioneering novel carbon sequestration methods. We are looking for a materials laboratory technician to expand our team’s experiment and test capabilities. You will join a small team working on characterizing and improving biomass buoy performance in the open ocean.

You Will:

  • Iteratively develop new buoy recipes to optimize ocean performance characteristics
  • Design and execute experiments, collect data, interpret results
  • Operate process & test equipment (mixers, hydraulic presses, cure ovens, dehydrators, wavetanks, pH metersetc)
  • Perform incoming, in-process, and outgoing tests and inspections on raw materials and finished product
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment
  • Follow existing and develop new recipe specifications, data recording methods, manufacturing standards, and test procedures
  • Track and document consumable stocks necessary to meet production timelines
  • Clean and maintain lab equipment

You Are (or You Have):

  • A bias towards action
  • A high degree of ownership and initiative
  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic environment
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel

Bonus Points:

  • Professional experience in a lab environment
  • Technical Vocational/Trade School Degree
  • Experience with material characterization analytical techniques
  • Passion for combating climate change

Expected Compensation Range: $20-$28 USD per hour, dependent on experience
Our teams operate with utmost persistence. We are tackling the world’s most difficult and important problems, and we are unwavering in our motivation to find a solution. At our core, we are innovators driven to do "more good" rather than "less bad" in the world.
Running Tide is committed to building a diverse team, bringing as many possible perspectives to bear on the unprecedented challenges facing our planet. We are committed to building an inclusive environment where people of all backgrounds  can come to do their best work.
All offers of employment at Running Tide are contingent upon clear results of a thorough background check.
