Job Description

QuantumScape is on a mission to transform energy storage with solid-state lithium-metal battery technology. As a member of the Metrology Data Science team, you will lead the effort to extract valuable metrics from high-throughput measurements and play a key role in enabling mass production of next generation EV batteries. What you will do:Collaborate with battery scientists and engineers to analyze metrology data and generate insights to improve battery performanceCommunicate findings with audiences through clear and concise reports, presentations and data visualizationsDevelop and own imaging processing and/or machine learning models end-to-end to predict meaningful features from imagesUse open-source tools, internal libraries, or custom scripts to extract metrics from metrology measurement dataLead the effort in developing a wide range of reproducible and shareable ad-hoc analyses; convert high-impact analyses into automated pipelinesDrive automation of analysis reports using dashboarding toolsCollaborate with software engineers to deploy data-centric applications in engineering and manufacturing environments
Minimum requirements:M.S. in data science, computer science, engineering, mathematics, applied physics, or a related field with 3 years of professional experience, or B.S. with 5 years of experienceHands-on experience in data science projectsProgramming experience in Python, SQLSolid foundation in statisticsUnderstanding of conventional and machine learning based image processing concepts and algorithmsKnowledge or desire to learn about manufacturing processesStrong bias to action and appetite for problem solvingEffective communication skills to thrive in a fast-paced team environmentExcellent time-management skills to balance multiple high-impact projectsReal passion for our mission
Any of the following is particularly helpful:Professional experience developing production-ready Python codeKnowledge of deep learning platforms such as Tensorflow or PyTorchHands-on experience developing machine vision systems, either software or hardware componentsFamiliarity with measurement systems analysis and statistical process controlExperience in new product introduction and development of engineering or manufacturing specifications
