Job Description
About Us: Sella is a fast-growing startup building the future of resale - one secondhand item at a time. Leveraging our proprietary technology and a network of local gig workers and remote experts, we’ve made selling your stuff feel Amazon-easy. We’re growing fast, just raised a Seed round, have bold expansion plans for the next year, and we’re looking for a dynamic person to join us and be an integral part of that journey.
Why we’re building: Sella’s mission is to make buying and selling pre-owned items 100% frictionless, because buying pre-owned versus new is good for communities, local economies and the environment in more ways than we can count. We envision a future where there is access to a Sella Hub within 10 minutes of every home - truly powering the circular economy at scale.
Working here: If you want to work on an unequivocally world-positive mission, tackle tons of interesting problems, and join a company that's transitioning from proof-of-concept to scale -- we'd love to hear from you!

What you’ll do…
- You’ll ship features that customers actually see & use on a daily basis!
- You'll own the backend transition from an end-to-end Rails application to Rails APIs supporting React Native for mobile + web
- You’ll build integrations with other platforms, e.g. Stripe, eBay, Checkr
- You’ll address scalability and performance issues
- You’ll work closely with the product team & founder as part of a collaborative, cross-functional 6 person prod/eng organization.
What you bring to the table…
- 4+ years of engineering experience in the workplace
- 2+ years of workplace experience with Rails
- Expert in HTML/CSS/JS, and ideally some React experience
- Experience owning deployment (we’re on Heroku), CI/CD, Docker and eng tooling
- Comfortable with ambiguity and deploying 80/20 features
- Strong EQ and sense of empathy
- Written and verbal communication skills are exceptional
- 4 year CS degree
- This role is open to all remote candidates across US working hours (PST to EST) and is a full-time role.
What we bring…
- Comprehensive medical, dental, vision insurance
- 100% remote work, in-office optional in Portland, OR
- Competitive compensation package and equity
- Collaborative culture with a supportive team
- A great place to work with unlimited growth opportunities
- The opportunity to make massive contributions at a hyper-growth company
