This goal will be accomplished through the commercialization of the fluoride-salt-cooled, high-temperature reactor (FHR) that can be deployed with robust safety, affordable costs, and flexible operation to accommodate the expansion of variable renewables.</div>Job Summary As an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist you are a subject matter expert in Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering with primary responsibility for technical and operational implementation of environmental program at Kairos Power.  You will be part of a team of EHS experts that collaborate in a dynamic setting promoting a culture of safety, sustainability and environmental responsibility.   You will be responsible for developing and implementing environmental programs, assisting with regulatory compliance and fostering a safe and environmentally conscious work environment.  The candidate must be open to learning and supporting all aspects of Kairos Power’s EHS program.   Responsibilities <ul><li>Develop, implement and maintain Kairos Power environmental programs.  </li><li>Partner with other EHS professionals to collaborate with cross-functional teams, management and external agencies to ensure alignment with environmental goals.  </li><li>Directly engage employees by walking the floor in an effort to understand workflow, operational processes and potential EHS concerns.  </li><li>Engage with local regulators to ensure compliance with environmental requirements and permits.  </li><li>Develops, reviews and conducts EHS-related training.  </li><li>Stay current with all environmental regulations, inspections and standards, and ensure the organization's adherence to all applicable laws.  </li><li>Prepare and submit regulatory reports, permits and documentation as required.   </li><li>Conduct internal and external audits and inspections to monitor compliance and identify areas for improvement.  </li><li>Manage hazardous materials and waste activities, including waste disposal, recycling and handling in accordance with applicable requirements.  </li><li>Partner and manage relationships with vendors to assist with the responsible disposal of waste.  </li><li>Assist in Investigation of all incidents and accidents, determining root causes and implementing corrective and preventive measures.  </li><li>Support all other functions under EHS and be a backup for other team members.  </li><li>Be a first responder and part of Emergency Response Team. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul>Qualifications <ul><li>Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or a related field.  </li><li>3+ years of experience in an environmental, health and safety program.  </li><li>Demonstrated experience preparing clear, accurate and complete EHS documentation, including incident reports, incident action plans and after-action reports. </li><li>Experience supporting the development of EHS training content and coordinating training activities with internal departments. </li><li>Demonstrated experience collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams to support a strong safety culture. </li><li>Professional certification relevant to environmental or EHS responsibilities is a plus but not required. </li><li>Experience supporting environmental compliance activities in a manufacturing, research and development, laboratory, or similarly regulated operating environment is a plus but not required.  </li></ul>Knowledge, Skills &amp; Abilities <ul><li>Knowledge of environmental program implementation, regulatory reporting, recordkeeping, and documentation requirements. </li><li>Knowledge of hazardous materials and waste-management requirements and practices. </li><li>Ability to develop, implement and maintain environmental programs and procedures. </li><li>Ability to interpret environmental requirements and apply them to operational activities. </li><li>Ability to prepare accurate regulatory reports, permits, records, and other environmental compliance documentation. </li><li>Ability to conduct or support environmental audits, inspections, data collection, and compliance assessments. </li><li>Ability to support incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective and preventive actions. </li><li>Ability to support the development and delivery of EHS training. </li><li>Ability to build collaborative working relationships across EHS, technical, operational, research, and management functions. </li><li>Ability to communicate environmental and EHS information clearly through written documentation, training and employee engagement. </li><li>Ability to engage employees directly to understand work processes and identify environmental or EHS concerns. </li><li>Understands business objectives and how EHS fits into the organization. </li><li>Ability to respond to urgent/emergent calls, questions or requests.  </li><li>Demonstrates ability to maintain accurate records and assist with data collection/investigations. </li><li>Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, codes and standards.</li><li>Ability to work in an agile R&amp;D environment. </li><li>Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.</li><li>Ability to work in an environment with inside ambient temperatures reaching 100+ degrees. </li><li>Ability to work within a manufacturing setting and tolerate oil, grease, dust, and occasional fumes. </li><li>Ability to work with highly collaborative team.  </li><li>Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently.   </li><li>Prioritizes and ensures safety of oneself and others.   </li><li>Ability to proactively collect, manage and transfer knowledge.   </li><li>Ability to seek different and novel ways to create efficiencies when working on problems, challenges and issues. </li></ul>Physical Demands <ul><li>Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, scissor lifts, articulated boom lifts, etc.. </li><li>Setting up and transferring temporary structures (e.g. scaffolding, ladders). </li><li>Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.</li><li>Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.  </li><li>Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.  </li><li>Adjusting, moving, transporting, installing, positioning, or removing objects up to 35 pounds in all directions.</li></ul>Environmental Conditions <ul><li>General office environment. </li><li>Low temperatures.</li><li>High temperatures. </li><li>Outdoor environment or elements such as precipitation and wind.  </li><li>Noisy environments.</li><li>Small and/or enclosed spaces.</li><li>Odors or fumes from chemicals or chemical reactions.  </li><li>Elevated heights. </li></ul>Safety and PPE <ul><li>Manipulating, cleaning and disposal of hazardous materials.  </li><li>Reporting issues with equipment or unsafe conditions.</li><li>Wearing proper PPE, to include face mask, face shields, gloves, safety shoes, etc.. </li><li>Handling of Beryllium (Be).  </li></ul>Travel  <ul><li>Some travel may be required, up to 10% </li></ul>Certification <ul><li>Professional certification relevant to environmental or EHS responsibilities is a plus but not required. </li></ul>Additional Requirements <ul><li>Seldom requires working weekends.</li><li>Occasionally requires schedule flexibility.  </li><li>Seldom requires non-standard work-week hours.   </li><li>Seldom requires extended hours to support launch and critical project timelines.   </li></ul> • Onsite: #LI-Onsite<div>About our BenefitsWe know that we have some of the most talented and dedicated employees, and we believe in rewarding them accordingly.
