The Director, Ethics & Compliance will hold a critical role leading Beyond Meat’s enterprise-wide risk management and compliance program, responsible for designing and implementing procedures to mitigate legal and regulatory risk across Beyond Meat’s global business. This individual will be responsible for implementing compliance strategy, and partnering with the business to ensure the design, implementation, monitoring and testing of controls that comply with applicable legal and regulatory obligations globally. This role will report to the General Counsel and will interface directly with company leadership across product, business, and functional teams, working closely with key cross-functional stakeholders to develop and oversee a robust global compliance and ethics program.  

Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive strategic expertise and guidance on compliance and data governance to drive partnership, knowledge-sharing and efficiency
  • Oversee the strategy, development, implementation and management of world-class ethics and compliance program, collaborating with stakeholders to strengthen strategic roadmap and ensure alignment of compliance initiatives with broader enterprise-wide objectives
  • Areas of focus include: Privacy, Antitrust/Competition, Anti-Corruption/FCPA, Insider Trading, Conflicts of Interest, Sales and Marketing, Political Activities Compliance, Vendor Compliance  
  • Advise on compliance best practices across all aspects of the global business including customer engagement, supply chain management, business data, data security and data breaches. Partners with business to implement controls and promote best practices for customer, employee, supplier, and shareholder engagement
  • Counsel business leaders on compliance implications for new products and services, and advise on potential business impact of proposed changes to U.S. and international laws and regulations
  • Direct compliance related activities, including program design and implementation, conflict of interest resolution, policy and procedure development, training and education, corrective actions for audits, monitoring, remediation, investigations
  • Design and implement ethics and compliance vendor management program, in coordination with other internal stakeholders, including automating due diligence processes and overseeing ethics and compliance components of third-party onboarding
  • Effectively and efficiently engage external advisors as appropriate
  • Assess and respond to potential compliance, company policy, security, and privacy risks and regulatory requirements. Serve as a key point of contact and advisor for senior executives regarding ethics and compliance matters
  • Monitor, supervise, and independently conduct internal investigations into potential violations of law and/or policy and other potential legal and regulatory issues
  • Develop key metrics to address areas of concern

Qualifications

  • JD, MBA, or other graduate degree from an accredited school
  • 10+ years of relevant experience with substantial focus on compliance and ethics
  • Knowledge of all applicable significant regulatory compliance requirements, with an experience spotting emerging trends and “hot issues” from both internal and external data
  • Experience building and/or leading corporate compliance and ethics programs
  • Thought leadership on ethics and compliance, and capacity for complex problem-solving
  • Demonstrable experience influencing enterprise-wide change
