The position is based in Sydney, Australia.The Services Engineer will provide remote, on-call, shift-based, and onsite technical support for CCS and COM systems operating within the MTS service environment, ensuring system availability and performance in accordance with service level agreements (SLAs).Key responsibilities:<ul><li>Perform remote monitoring, investigation, fault diagnosis, and troubleshooting activities, and undertake site visits when required to support fault rectification, maintenance, testing, commissioning, or operational incidents. </li><li>Perform preventive maintenance activities including planned inspections, health checks, diagnostics, condition assessments, system monitoring, configuration verification, backup validation, and proactive reliability improvement initiatives.</li><li>Perform corrective maintenance activities including fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, fault rectification, root cause analysis, technical investigations, implementation of corrective actions, and restoration of services within agreed SLA timeframes.</li><li>Support system upgrades, equipment replacement, configuration changes, software updates, engineering modifications, variation orders, and defect rectification activities.</li><li>Provide technical support for testing, integration, commissioning, migration, transition-to-service, and operational readiness activities associated with system enhancements and newly delivered assets.</li><li>Maintain accurate maintenance records, technical documentation, support reports, and customer communications, while providing regular status updates to internal and external stakeholders.</li><li>Participate in a rostered on-call support arrangement and perform shift work, planned maintenance, possession activities, and out-of-hours works, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, as required to support operational and project delivery activities.</li><li>Build and maintain effective working relationships with Metro Trains Sydney (MTS), internal Hitachi Rail teams, and third-party suppliers to ensure delivery of a professional, customer-focused support service and achievement of operational performance objectives.</li></ul>Key skills, knowledge and experience:<ul><li>Broad understanding of railway Communications (COM) and Control Command Systems (CCS).</li><li>Strong working knowledge of SCADA and integrated operational railway systems.</li><li>Experience supporting operational rail, transport, or critical infrastructure environments.</li><li>Demonstrated experience delivering preventive and corrective maintenance activities.</li><li>Experience with fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and technical investigations.</li><li>Knowledge of incident management, SLA-based service delivery, maintenance, and asset management practices.</li><li>Experience supporting upgrades, modifications, equipment replacement, and engineering changes.</li><li>Experience supporting testing, commissioning, and transition-to-service activities.</li><li>Experience managing customer tickets, internal support tickets, PCRs, defects, and technical change processes through to closure.</li><li>Experience coordinating with internal engineering teams, suppliers, and external stakeholders to resolve technical issues.</li><li>Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.</li><li>Ability to work independently and participate in an on-call support roster.</li></ul>At Hitachi Rail, we know that a diverse business is a sustainable business.
