Job Description


What You’ll Do

  • Work with Head of Comms, Project Manager and eventual Audience Director and Social Media associates to build out our social cadence, messaging, voice and community management approach.
  • Help strategize and manage campaigns with creative spark and innovative approaches.
  • Work with partnerships teams to develop mutually-beneficial content partnerships.
  • Engage and inspire all of our audiences with meaningful content strategy, founded on good channel management, measurement and best practices.
  • Bring best practices and a solid understanding of channels and metrics to our work.
  • Write dazzling copy, build engagement and conversation in all the places we live and have fun doing it. Good reactive muscle and ability to engage with personality and helpfulness.
  • Create content that is founded on solid metrics, strategy, and foundational understanding of good climate communications practice.
  • Innovate and adapt as the digital landscape evolves - always exploring new channels and communications avenues.
  • Share knowledge and social tips and tools with our entire organization, from cool analytics to important memes that everyone on our Slack should know about.
  • Work very closely with our communications team to create a unified voice, as well as share messaging and creative ideas.
  • Always pronounce the word GIF correctly.

The Social Media Manager plays a critical role in the evolution of Rewiring America from its start-up phase to a more mature organization, and joins a fast-paced team that operates with a sense of urgency and a track record of success in science, technology, business, policy and politics. The Social Media Manager must be able to respond, engage and light up our channels. Rewiring America has the opportunity to take our work to the next level and seeks a team member with ambition, determination and the ability to instill confidence, trust and inspiration.

This role requires an ethos of energy and adaptability. The successful candidate demonstrates a zeal for multi-channel communications and engagement, and models excellence and integrity in all they do. The selected candidate will also possess the following Core and Preferred qualifications:


Core

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of relevant social channels. Serious on-the-ballness when it comes to what people are doing and saying on the channels we need to be on, especially in our sector.
  • Advanced knowledge of advertising platforms.
  • Ability to translate brand values and voice across channels and products.
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines, with attention to detail.
  • Flexibility and creative adaptability.
  • Ability to make complicated ideas fun and shareable.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • At least 3+ years of experience managing social accounts.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Agency or non-profit experience.
  • Content knowledge in climate, renewable energy and/or building electrification.
  • Bonus: basic fluency in design programs and ability to generate graphics in a pinch.
  • Enthusiasm for conversations about baked goods.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $100,000, commensurate with experience. Rewiring America also offers a very generous and competitive benefits package, including health coverage, retirement benefits, paid vacation, sick time and holidays and access to professional development resources.
