Job Description

About us:

It’s been little over a month since we officially launched Headway Cooperative—the world’s first climate tech co-op—and we’re off to a great start!

We’ve already had six incredibly talented, senior-level developers join us as developer-owners in Headway, and we’re opening up another four new developer-owner roles.

Headway provides mission-driven software development for data-driven businesses solving climate change. We are 100% developer owned and operated.

Mission-driven? Data-centric? Product-curious? Come join us as a developer-owner at Headway!

What makes us different:

  • Impactful work. We partner with high-impact, high-growth businesses. If you love the work and they love you, we'll place you with them full-time.
  • All greenfield. No maintenance. New product development, ground up platform re-builds, AI/ML at scale. We build from start to finish every time.
  • 100% developer-owned and operated. We're a co-op so everyone gets an ownership stake and a seat at the table.

Who we’re looking for:

At Headway, we love diving into the unknown, solving the product/business problem through software (not the other way around), and tackling the things others have said can’t be done. We all consider ourselves at least a little bit “product people,” or “product-curious,” if you will.

Senior Software Engineer (4+ years relevant experience) – 160k+

Benefits:

  • 401k match program
  • Health, vision, dental coverage
  • Flexible schedules and unlimited PTO
  • Hybrid or remote work
  • Vesting partnership stake at Headway with profit sharing

  • Brand new hardware of your choice
  • All greenfield, mission-driven work

Skillset:

  • Proven experience writing simple software that is easily maintainable
  • Comfort with Java/Scala, Python, or Go
  • AWS experience
  • Data engineering experience across batch and streaming needs
  • Flexible enough to work through infra and “that’s DevOps’ job” challenges
  • Adept in digging into data with SQL, Pandas, or whatever tools necessary to quickly debug/examine datasets
  • A healthy distaste of manual processes
  • Fearlessness and flexibility when diving into new technologies and languages
  • Experience with Apache Spark is a plus
  • Skill in fitting statistical models and training machine learning algorithms another plus
  • Positive team-oriented attitude
  • Passion for the energy and climate tech industry

That said – we believe that aptitude, positive attitude, and fearlessness trump any particular “skillset checkbox." If you think you’d be a good fit, and have some relevant experience to share, don’t hesitate to reach out!
