Aspiration is hiring a Senior Manager, Market Research to lead the research efforts to uncover insights about our customers, competitors and the industry.  Leveraging both primary and secondary research, you will establish the research strategy to solve key business questions for our consumer products (Aspiration Spend & Save and Aspiration Zero). This role will work cross-functionally across Brand, Product Marketing, and Customer Experience teams translate key findings into messaging and product improvements. 
The ideal candidate is comfortable with deploying the appropriate balance of qualitative and quantitative research methods to capture relevant insights, increase customer engagement and optimize customer LTV.
This role will report to the VP of Product Marketing.

What You'll Do

  • Develop Research Strategy: 
  • Evaluate available 1st and 3rd party data to inform research strategy and help prioritize team’s research needs.
  • Build and define the research priorities for the marketing department to leverage:
  • Primary Channels: Customer interviews, surveys, research panels
  • Quantitative Research: Understand how to leverage available data sets to uncover consumer insights
  • Qualitative: Define feedback opportunities to capture insights directly
  • Secondary Channels: Web research, 3rd party research
  • Establish internal research process to define best practices across the organization
  • Build quarterly and annual research plans, including research budget, and track performance over time.
  • Recommend external research services & tools that support long-term goals.
  • Stay on the pulse of research trends to help bring innovative new approaches to our data set.
  •  Inform Product Roadmap & Go-To-Market Strategy:
  • Summarize key consumer insights to inform product roadmap and help shape go-to-market strategy.
  • Stay on top of trends in the competitive landscape and translate customer feedback to inform product development and marketing strategy.
  • Monitor Brand Awareness & Brand Health:
  • Partner with research agencies to measure Aspiration’s brand health and share insights and recommendations to further our brand metrics.
  • Establish quarterly goal targets for increasing unaided and aided awareness based on brand marketing efforts, and track towards them.
  • Socialize Insights Across the Organization
  • Build a customer feedback loop through surveys, A/B tests and other tools to further optimize product experience.
  • Update team during business reviews, focusing on how insights help us track against KPIs that support business objectives.

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years in market research (Experience within the banking industry or banking industry-adjacent, is a plus)
  • Proven track record of leading end-to-end research projects (i.e. designing, programming, deploying, data weighting, analysis and report summarization). 
  • Natural Curiosity: A keen interest in getting at the heart of the consumer needs
  • Strong Communicator - Excellent communication skills with the ability to pull out the most relevant insights from the research
  • Project Management & Organization Skills - Able to organize and manage multiple projects at once to help take them across the finish line; Staying on top of project status and proactively reporting out as needed.
  • Collaborative - Exceptional ability to work cross-functionally with the power to influence across departments. 
  • Passion for fighting climate changeFlexibility and a desire to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment -- you’ll be joining a very fun, high-growth startup!  
  • BA/BS in Marketing, Business Administration, Statistics or Mathematics
