Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

QuantumScape is on a mission to transform energy storage with solid-state lithium-metal battery technology. We're looking for an experienced, highly motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to develop equipment to process our novel battery materials.  In this role: •You will be responsible for aiding the design, build, test, and manufacture of proprietary equipment and ensuring equipment quality assurance during all phases of the development and implementation. •Your responsibilities include: •Partnering with process and design team members to determine the specifications of the equipment.  This includes identification of needs, design (concept to detail),      prototyping, manufacturing, install, and testing. •Leveraging your previous experience to optimize automation systems and design to support the needs of the manufacturing line. •Leading & project managing build and testing of new designs and equipment, including daily activities, scheduling, reporting, and budgeting and collaborating with equipment development partners and suppliers to successfully execute . Experience:•BS or higher degree in mechanical engineering•5+ years' experience with roll to roll equipment design, automation equipment design, and integration from R&D to manufacturing. •Experience with AutoDesk Vault PDM or equivalent PDM/PLM systems•Experience with supplier management and collaborating with remote engineering teams. Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:•Advanced knowledge with Inventor, SoildWorks, or equivalent 3D CAD systems and in GD&T  (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).•Excellent communication skills, collaborative and a positive attitude•5-10% travel required.
