Job Description

QuantumScape is on a mission to transform energy storage with solid-state lithium-metal battery technology. The company’s next-generation batteries are designed to enable longer range, faster charging and enhanced safety in electric vehicles to support the transition away from legacy energy sources toward a lower carbon future.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL: Own end-to-end RFI, RFP and RFQ processes across direct, indirect and/or capital equipment categories. Drive competitive sourcing events and ensure commercial terms are agreed and documented with awarded suppliers Lead day-to-day supplier negotiations on an ad-hoc basis, working directly with technical teams to implement best-in-class commercial terms Work with technical and engineering teams to define product specifications and lead the vendor selection process Ensure that requirements are collected and satisfied with vendors. Support Project Managers to collect and consolidate information ahead of sourcing events Collaborate with Supply Managers and Buyers to monitor supplier performance against agreed upon service levels Analyze current and historical spend to identify supplier consolidation opportunities - Build and maintain should-cost models on specific products or cost categories to inform negotiation strategy and business objectives Conduct quarterly and bi-annual business reviews of strategic sourcing plan. Define and track cost reduction initiatives across supply, demand and process improvements Coordinate contract management process by proactively handling upcoming renewals and identifying new spend areas to bring under contract
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education & Experience: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Engineering or equivalent experience Proven experience in manufacturing operations or sourcing environment, particularly as it relates to capital equipment or direct material procurement Consistent track record of negotiating with global suppliers and driving cost optimization initiatives Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel Strong communicator that can empathize with others while still holding them accountable
ADDITIONAL SKILLS:Experience working in R&D environment and/or with large CAPEX projects Experience with eRFX or eAuction platforms, contract lifecycle management (CLM) and data visualization software (e.g. Tableau) a plus
