Job Description

Land Manager, Solar Development

CleanChoice Energy seeks a Land Manager who is familiar with the renewable energy market and can leverage that knowledge to identify, diligence and acquire project sites for the development of solar and energy storage projects. Responsible for acquiring sites in target markets, the position will include leading day-to-day activities working with team members, property owners, and consultants to ensure site acquisition efforts are advanced on-time and on budget. The position is fast paced and set in a team-oriented environment interfacing with and supporting cross functional teams such as Business Development and Finance. The position reports to the Managing Director, Renewable Energy Development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies to originate candidate sites through but not limited to; media, mail, cold call, and door knocking campaigns.  
  • Conduct independent site visits to assess project viability meeting landowners to advance execution of real estate documents.
  • Engage landowners to facilitate and close real estate agreements for candidate sites.
  • Forecast and track costs ensuring on-time payments to landowners.
  • Provide real estate expertise on land title risks, curative responsibilities, deed research to confirm ownership and identify encumbrances.
  • Oversee and ensure the timely execution of pre- and post-land acquisition functions such as document quality control, modification approvals and tracking, database management of terms and payments utilizing in-house CRM tools and procedures.
  • Vendor and contractor management to include identifying and contracting with qualified resources, executing work orders, forecasting costs, and controlling schedules for land acquisition programs.
  • Coordination with legal and development teams ensuring real estate document financeability and project constructability.
  • Supporting roles on an as needed basis include the review of local and state permitting regulations, new market analysis and public outreach campaigns to inform and educate local communities.
  • Conduct regular status meetings with the development team and relevant internal stakeholders.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 3+ years of renewable energy industry experience or 5+ years of combined experience including other industries such as commercial real estate, oil & gas, mineral, pipeline, and transmission.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field (i.e. technical, business, science).
  • Professional land industry certification (AAPL, IRWA, Etc) is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • An independent self-starter with strong organizational skills in maintaining accurate project records.  
  • Fundamental knowledge and ability to deliver land management functions throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ability to read and interpret various real estate documents.
  • Proficient computer skills and software, CRM tools such as Salesforce is a plus, Microsoft Office suite including but not limited to Excel, MS Project Word, PowerPoint and geospatial tools such as ArcGIS a plus.
  • Notary Public or willingness to become a Notary Public is a plus.

Location

This is a remote position and at least 30% travel will be required. Travel will include visiting landowners and their properties, project stakeholders, industry events, and CleanChoice Energy office locations.

This position offers compensation commensurate with experience and skills, an incentive plan, and a robust benefits package.
