This position operates in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and plays an important role in supporting the accuracy and timeliness of Longroad's tax compliance function.  This position is based in our Boston office and is expected to work onsite a minimum of three days per week.  Responsibilities Tax Compliance &amp; Forecasting<ul><li>Manage assigned federal and state income tax compliance activities for Longroad Energy and its affiliates, with a primary focus on U.S. operating partnerships. </li><li>Maintain the income tax compliance calendar and proactively manage statutory and stakeholder deadlines. </li><li>Coordinate the preparation and timely filing of federal and state tax returns, estimates, and extensions. </li><li>Support quarterly income tax forecasting and partnership capital account projections. </li><li>Review tax calculations and deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and consistency with applicable requirements. </li><li>Identify tax compliance issues or discrepancies and work with appropriate internal and external stakeholders to resolve them. </li></ul>External Tax Advisor Oversight<ul><li>Oversee outside tax accounting firms responsible for preparing U.S. federal and state income tax returns and quarterly partnership capital account projections. </li><li>Coordinate and provide required financial information and supporting documentation, including trial balances and GAAP-to tax adjustment support. </li><li>Review deliverables prepared by external tax advisors and provide appropriate feedback and follow-up. </li><li>Manage external advisor timelines and deliverables to ensure compliance and stakeholder deadlines are met. </li></ul>Technical Tax &amp; Cross-Functional Partnership<ul><li>Apply partnership tax concepts, including GAAP-to-tax adjustments, partnership allocations, tax basis balance sheets, and fixed and intangible asset depreciation and amortization. </li><li>Review and interpret audited financial statements and applicable operating agreement tax provisions. </li><li>Partner with Accounting, Finance, and other internal stakeholders to gather information, resolve tax-related questions, and support accurate tax reporting. </li><li>Research and analyze tax matters within the scope of the role and escalate complex or material issues to Tax leadership as appropriate. </li></ul>Process, Documentation &amp; Continuous Improvement<ul><li>Maintain complete and organized supporting documentation for tax filings, calculations, and other compliance activities. </li><li>Assist in developing, maintaining, and improving tax department policies, procedures, controls, and documentation standards. </li><li>Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and consistency of tax compliance and reporting processes. </li><li>Support other tax projects and initiatives as business needs evolve.</li></ul>Minimum Qualifications<ul><li>Certified public accountant and/or Master’s degree in taxation</li><li>Minimum of five years prior experience in tax compliance with U.S. operating partnerships</li><li>Strong analytical, communication, time management and organizational skills</li><li>Strong technical tax skills, including GAAP-to-tax adjustments for taxable income, partnership allocations, tax basis balance sheets, and fixed/intangible asset depreciation and amortization.</li><li>Ability to read and understand audited financial statements and apply relevant operating agreement tax provisions.</li><li>Ability to independently manage a tax compliance calendar and outside tax accounting firms</li></ul>Desired/Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>Minimum of three years of recent experience with a large public accounting firm strongly preferred</li><li>Tax experience in the renewable energy, real estate or aircraft leasing industries</li><li>Experience working with complex partnership structures and multi-state tax compliance</li><li>Experience supporting tax forecasting and partnership capital account projections</li></ul>Characteristics Necessary for Success  <ul><li>Strong technical and analytical capability</li><li>A collaborative style and a can-do attitude</li><li>Attention to detail and accuracy</li><li>Comfortable with fast paced, rapidly changing environment</li><li>Ability to make informed decisions quickly</li><li>Passionate and enthusiastic about alternative energy</li><li>Integrity and accountability</li><li>Ability to independently manage competing priorities and deadlines, while knowing when to escalate material issues</li></ul>CompensationThe expected salary range for this position is $144K - $175K, depending on experience, qualifications, and location. This role may also be eligible for incentive plan participation and other performance-based compensation opportunities.
