Create content to cultivate an engaged community of scientists

The Good Food Institute is a nonprofit think tank working to make the global food system better for the planet, people, and animals. Alongside scientists, businesses, and policymakers, GFI’s teams focus on making plant-based and cultivated meat delicious, affordable, and accessible. Powered by philanthropy, GFI is an international network of organizations advancing alternative proteins as an essential solution needed to meet the world’s climate, global health, food security, and biodiversity goals.

How You Will Make a Difference

As the Science Communications Intern, you will have the opportunity to help develop a library of impactful video clips from our library of recorded content that will enable The Good Food Institute to effectively share its key messages with target audiences through social media and email marketing channels. The Science Communications Intern will be responsible for the following:

  • Developing a solid understanding of GFI’s key messages and talking points.
  • Identifying impactful soundbites from GFI’s library of recorded scientific seminars and conference sessions that will be used to promote GFI’s key messages across our social media platforms and newsletters.
  • Creating a library of transcribed key quotes for future use.
  • Drafting a few versions of copy to promote each video clip across social media channels (primarily Twitter and LinkedIn) and newsletters.
  • Planning and executing a virtual networking event for GFI’s global scientific community.
  • Promoting the networking event and inspiring scientists to participate.
  • Expanding the reach of GFI’s network and bringing new scientists into our community.

The Science Communications Intern must have:

  • A strong work ethic and the ability to follow through on work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong familiarity with GFI’s mission, the alternative protein field, and general food sustainability concepts.

  • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of organization and efficiency.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Ability to synthesize and communicate complex concepts to a variety of audiences.
  • Experience using social media/virtual connection platforms such as Twitter, Slack, LinkedIn Zoom, and Hopin.
  • Strong support for GFI’s philosophy and mission; demonstrated interest in alternative proteins, public health, environmentalism, climate change, animal protection, or hunger relief.

We want the best people and we don’t want biases holding us back. We strongly encourage people of every race, color, orientation, age, gender, origin, and ability to apply.
