SUMMARY

Nexamp is looking to grow our Nexamp Energy Center (NEC) team in hiring a Solar Analyst. The Analyst will be working on a team of commissioning analysts, reporting specialists, and photovoltaic (PV) performance analysts to provide analytical feedback on the performance of the fleet of PV and storage systems. The Analyst will be the technical subject matter expert (SME) for storage. The Analysts will lead discussions and maintain communications with industry partners including utilities, site owners, customers and subcontractors across all Nexamp and third-party markets. The ideal candidate will possess advanced understanding and hands on experience in all facets of solar PV energy monitoring, SCADA and data acquisition system (DAS) design, and analysis. This role is hybrid, and based in our Boston Office, and reporting to our Vice President, NEC. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as subject matter expert pertaining to the operations and troubleshooting of energy management system (EMS) and battery energy storage systems (BESS)
  • Develop analytics suite around BESS operations regarding areas of technology efficiency, financial efficiency
  • Monitor BESS operations and originate dispatch routines
  • Work with other asset management members to develop BESS schedules for best market participation and implement the schedules during commissioning and early operations stages
  • Work with SCADA engineering to develop a SCADA platform for BESS Operations
  • Train and Support Operations Center personnel on BESS dispatch, monitoring, troubleshooting
  • Write standard operating procedures (SOPs) around BESS Operational Safety and Security
  • Interact with owners, utilities, 3rd party vendors, off-takers, operations, and maintenance (O&M) providers, and subcontractors
  • Work on expanding Nexamp’s troubleshooting support library to assist with future training and troubleshooting efforts (include BESS dispatch)
  • Ensure timely updates to O&M team and interested parties on project status and next steps
  • Provide valid data feedback on functionality of BESS, 3rd party controllers, ISO testing challenges
  • Develop storage warranty metrics. 
  • Present and defend data to independent engineers on Storage metrics for refinance and maintenance questions
  • Make decisions across the plant lifecycle beginning at commissioning and startup, as well as in terms of current and future system design, equipment replacement and decommissioning

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience, including, but not limited to: electrical knowledge of renewable energy systems, solar PV analysis, battery technology experience, etc.
  • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of battery energy storage systems
  • Understanding of electricity concepts, including, but not limited to: AC, DC, power, energy
  • Adept at identifying trends, underperformance, and evolving conditions related to equipment, shading, weather, and climate change
  • Adept at data acquisition system troubleshooting and resolution, communications configuration, and M2M networks.
  • Advanced understanding of PV design tools, electrical plans and asset management software management and development.
  • Possess software and hardware knowledge necessary to perform troubleshooting and remotely interact with equipment, including, but not limited to: inverters and grid recloser apparatus.
