Site Reliability Engineer

What will you be doing?

• Share responsibility with our engineering teams in discovering, triaging and resolving production issues
• Taking a leadership role on major incidents, running post mortems and promoting a ‘just culture’
• Providing out of hours support for our industry leading, cloud based Energy Platform
• Building tools that improve production & deployment capabilities and working with teams on projects that enhance their speed to production
• Drive operational excellence & best practices around service performance, deployment, monitoring and availability

Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

You will be working within the Retail Collections domain, building solutions that support our most vulnerable members as we go through the current cost of living crisis and beyond.
Across all our brands we have around 350 Engineers all with varying backgrounds and levels of experience. One key thing that all of our engineers have in common is a desire to develop brilliant, industry redefining products as well as their own skills.
We trust our development teams to choose their tech stacks, you’ll commonly encounter Scala, Python, Kafka, GraphQL, Datadog, Docker, Kubernetes, BigQuery and SQL Server. We run our services primarily in GCP.

What will I be doing?

• Driving software development, security and infrastructure best practices that facilitate the delivery of high quality, stable solutions.
• Maintaining and improving our existing systems.
• Ensuring SLOs for the services we provide are met.
• Championing progressive architecture and reviewing design solutions.

Is this the job for me?

• You’re genuinely passionate about developing products that will positively impact over a million people and also our environment
• You have a thorough understanding of at least one programming language.
• You have some experience designing and building cloud-based data solutions.
• You have a good understanding of software engineering principles and frameworks. 
• You’re comfortable working in an agile software development environment and have experience of CI/CD.
• You have experience using infrastructure-as-code to provision and manage infrastructure.
• You're motivated by owning products, from inception to continuous improvement
