Job Description

Twelve is a new kind of chemical company built for the climate era. Our breakthrough technology eliminates emissions by turning CO2 into essential products. We are a team of scientists, engineers and problem solvers on a mission to fundamentally shift the way the world addresses climate change and lead the transition to a fossil free future with our carbon transformation technology.

Job Brief

You will lead a key part of Twelve's Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA) fabrication scale up efforts which will support the delivery of the world’s first at-scale CO2 electrolyzer and beyond. We need someone that has a proven track record of taking processes of homogenizing solutions of various materials from the lab scale to the pilot scale. In addition to scaling, each process needs to be optimized to increase throughput and drive down costs. This role will be supported not only internally with the MEA Fabrication team, but also by many other parts of Twelve’s technical team including chemists, material scientists, and mechanical and software engineers.

What you will do

  • You will be the technical lead on a project that will develop and scale up our ink production to support our first-in-class pilot MEA fabrication process.
  • As the project lead you will be designing, commissioning, and validating Twelve’s first ink production pilot line.
  • You will accomplish this project by coordinating with four or more individual contributors across the chemistry, fabrication, mechanical engineering, and software teams.
  • You will craft detailed documentation to transfer processes to the manufacturing team.

Who you are

  • Have a proven track record in scaling chemical production processes or related projects from lab to pilot scale.
  • Experience with mixing techniques, heat management, and material transfer of liquids in tanks on the 100-500L scale.
  • Working knowledge of dispersions and their stability, such as inks, colloids, or slurries.
  • You care about effective communication and process documentation including SOPs, PFDs, and PFMEAs.
  • Accomplished at optimizing processes for performance and cost using DOEs and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Proficient in efficiently accessing and analyzing data from databases with experience with JMP a plus.
  • Desire to excel at mentoring or even managing early career engineers.
  • Have developed effective project management methods.
  • Prioritize safety throughout your workflow.

Twelve Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Paid sick days and vacation
  • Competitive salary and equity compensation commensurate with experience
  • Diverse and inclusive work environment

We believe that the unique contributions of each individual is the driver of our success. To make sure that our products and culture continue to incorporate everyone's perspectives and experience we never discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, or marital, veteran, or disability status.
