What will you do? 

At Sealed, project finance is a core part of our business and the reason that we can cover the upfront cost of projects for our customers.  On each and every project, we receive an advance from our lending partners that is project-specific and based on the projected amount we will bill the customer each month in accordance with the terms of their contract. 

As the Project Finance Lead, you will support our Finance Team as we expand across the county by managing our relationship with our lending partners and owning the projecting funding process.  With your methodical approach and meticulous attention to detail, we will be assured that projects will be funded on a consistent cadence.

Specifically, you will:

  • Review diligence materials for each project provided by the Service Team and approve or send the project back to the Service Team with clear and constructive feedback
  • Use pre-built tools to calculate the size of each monthly advance from our lender
  • Prepare monthly borrowing notices with supporting diligence materials and submit to lender
  • Calculate quarterly payments owed to the lender and prepare and submit related account withdrawal instructions to initiate payments of such amounts
  • Fulfill lender reporting requirements, including but not limited to submission of monthly cash reports, quarterly separateness certificates, operating and financial reports and certifications, and annual operating budget and financial report and certification

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with at least a few years of professional experience who has a meticulous attention to detail, is very comfortable working with numbers, and has the professionalism to manage the day-to-day relationship between Sealed and our lenders.  Project funding is a key function at Sealed and you will be responsible for both executing the function as an individual contributor today, as well as improving the systems and processes and building out a project funding team as the number of projects increases 10x over the next few years. 

What success looks like: 

  • Projects are funded on a consistent cadence
    • Diligence materials for each project provided by the Service Team are reviewed and approved or sent back to the Service team with constructive feedback within one week of receipt
    • Monthly borrowing notices are prepared accurately, supported by complete diligence materials, submitted to lender by applicable deadlines, and any requests for additional information are addressed promptly
  • Lender reporting requirements are completed in a timely manner and in accordance with the terms of the loan agreement(s)

Requirements: 

  • Strong desire to work in climate tech
  • 4+ years of progressive professional experience, including at least 2+ years experience at a financial institution such as a:
    • lender
    • borrower
    • service provider thereto that included some form of exposure to project financing such as warehouse loans, revolving loans, or other types of debt facilities
  • Self-starter with an ownership mentality and meticulous attention to detail
  • Service-oriented approach to both our internal team members and external lender
