About the Role
The Fyto Engineering team designs and builds systems and machines to improve the way in which food is produced. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer on our growing team, you will own the development of novel robotic systems and sensors. You will work closely with our team of engineers, plant scientists, and production staff to guide the company’s vision of autonomous, sustainable protein production.
What You’ll Do
- Design and build components and systems for FYTO’s autonomous protein farms, owning the full process from developing requirements and concepts to prototyping and ultimately implementing solutions into multi-acre facilities
- Work on multi-disciplinary engineering problems including mechanical design, sensor development, controls, fluids, and material handling
- Lead scale-up efforts and strategies for the commercial production and manufacturing of Fyto’s robotic systems
- Work with external manufacturers, contractors, and vendors to make your designs a reality
- Collaborate with plant scientists and production staff to determine high-level machine requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, agricultural engineering or similar
- 3+ years of professional experience designing mechanical systems
- Demonstrated ability to develop hardware from concept to commercial product
- Quick learner who takes ownership in their work and is able to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment
- Have a valid driver’s license and good driving record
