Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

The Telecoms team sits under the SSE brand of OVO, and has existed for about the past 10 years, building up a reputation for great value products and exceptional customer experience. The Titan Team is part of the Telecoms team, and works closely with customer service, IT, propositions, legal and regulatory to deliver a platform that provides high levels of automation and quality experience for our members.

What will I be doing?

We are looking for an enthusiastic Developer to join our team who is ready to learn new skills and technologies to help deliver huge change in our telecoms customer service operations and support the creation of our new billing platform. The Titan application is based on Pega, and developing in Pega will be the majority of your work. 

The role will be to expand the existing Titan application, to allow it to manage more of the onboarding process, and connect to a new billing system, and link into OVO’s wider systems ensuring continuity of our member’s experience. 

We are looking for motivated individuals with a thirst for learning new things and becoming the best they can be. You will be interested in software development and have an eye for detail, and will love working in a small close knit team. You will be eager to learn how to develop our Titan platform using PegaSystems’ PegaRULES Process Commander (PRPC). 

You will have had exposure to a customer service environment and understand the key requirements of how to help agents and customers translate their needs into processes and think about the impacts these will have. You will have great communication skills and be happy working in a close team environment taking on roles that stretch you and help you broaden your skills.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Participate in all Scrum ceremonies: daily scrums, sprint planning, reviews and retrospectives 
  • Follow the agreed acceptance criteria of user stories to build key processes in the PegaSystems platform, including API and UI/UX development 
  • Develop high quality code in adherence to development guidelines 
  • Propagate best practice through peer code review 
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of test plans and unit tests against user stories 
  • Follow the documented change management process to ensure that code is released in a controlled and secure manner set out by the Architecture Lead

Is this the job for me?

You will ideally have telecoms experience or experience in development in Pega and have a logical approach to problem solving. Ideally your background will be in a systems project delivery environment and be flexible and adaptable to an agile way of working. 

You will help to drive the effective delivery of our product backlog for our low code platform and its integration with our legacy IT platforms helping the team understand the capabilities and weaknesses to improve and deliver an increasing cadence as they grow their knowledge and skills. 

Key Criteria: 

  • Theoretical understanding of cloud computing, SaaS and Object-oriented programming 
  • IT literate and interested 
  • Desirable to be able to develop to the design of user stories 
  • Demonstrable experience in a software development or system testing role 
  • Desirable, related Industry certification (Pega SA/SSA etc.) 
  • Desirable, knowledge in HTML, JavaScript, CSS 
  • Desirable, knowledge of UK Telecoms industry 
  • Desirable, degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or Programming
