Job Description

OUR IMPACT

GridStor is a rapidly growing, grid-scale energy storage developer, owner and operator backed by Goldman Sachs Asset Management (“GSAM”) and led by experienced clean energy industry professionals. We acquire, develop and operate stand-alone battery storage projects in markets across North America. GridStor is based in Portland, Oregon.  

YOUR IMPACT 

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will manage outside counsel, establish the company’s legal procedures, and draft and review contracts and agreements. You will develop internal processes and legal documents such as procurement contracts, long term service agreements, revenue contracts (e.g. tolling agreements, resource adequacy and hedge contracts), exclusivity agreements, master service agreements, real estate contracts, MIPAs etc.

You will work with other senior leaders of the company to diligence and structure potential acquisitions and greenfield investments in energy storage assets.  You will enable the rapid growth of a profitable energy storage business by providing responsive, nimble legal advice and quickly developing a strong understanding of the evolving battery storage industry.

You will have significant responsibility across all aspects of the company’s operations from greenfield development to M&A through to construction and operations. You will have exposure to the full project lifecycle and be directly involved in high-profile transactions within a growing, entrepreneurial business. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop the full suite of standard legal documents for the company (with input from outside counsel)
  • Manage specialized outside counsel for transactions, tax, permitting, HR, etc
  • Spearhead legal due diligence of potential energy storage investments
  • Advise senior management on transaction structures, risk management, etc
  • Represent the company in transactions and with regulatory bodies

QUALIFICATIONS

  • JD and bar admission in at least one state
  • 8+ years of relevant legal experience including corporate and transactional work
  • Passion for clean energy and entrepreneurial mindset
  • Willing to dive into new topics and navigate ambiguity with a flexible, creative and collaborative approach
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
  • Comfortable with managing experienced, senior outside counsel
  • Intellectually curious and self motivated
