Job Description

Twelve is a new kind of chemical company built for the climate era. Our breakthrough technology eliminates emissions by turning CO2 into essential products. We are a team of scientists, engineers and problem solvers on a mission to fundamentally shift the way the world addresses climate change and lead the transition to a fossil free future with our carbon transformation technology.

Job Brief

The Electrochemistry team is responsible for testing the performance of membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs) for Twelve’s electrochemical CO2 reduction process under a range of conditions and providing diagnostic analysis for failure mechanisms. As an Electrochemical Engineer, you will be tasked with understanding the failure mechanisms of electrochemical performance of our reactors in relatively long term testing. In this role, you will be helping design, perform and maintain experiments and extract non-interruptive diagnostic data for Twelve’s CO2 electrolyzer failure analysis. This will involve setting up electrochemical tests and analyzing the data to report to project stakeholders, managing electrochemical test stands to consistently produce quality data, and taking part in experimental planning meetings.

What You Will Do

  • Perform/maintain electrochemical tests and then work up, analyze, summarize and interpret the basic results
  • Create standard operating procedures (SOPs) or relevant reports for test or equipment operations when needed
  • Share data across cross-functional teams and participate in experimental planning/technical discussions
  • Manage, troubleshoot, and maintain electrochemical test stands
  • Communicate proactively the status of testing hardware and any issues encountered during experiments
  • Maintain inventory of supplies as well as a clean and organized work area
  • Champion safety in a fast-paced laboratory environment

Who You Are

  • Have a BS degree in or related to Chemistry/Chemical Engineering, Physics, or Materials Science
  • Demonstrable hands-on project experience working in a research or industrial lab setting
  • Highly attentive to detail with strong organizational and communication skills
  • Able to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work with minimal supervision
  • Proficient in using MS Office and/or Google Suite products, as well as experience with a data analysis software
  • Able to lift 25 lbs as required for cell assembly
  • Stay flexible and alert for emergent changes on projects, milestones and respond dynamically with high velocity

Twelve Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Paid sick days and vacation
  • Competitive salary and equity compensation commensurate with experience
  • Diverse and inclusive work environment
