Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) is a national association of businesses that are making the energy we use secure, clean, and affordable. We work to accelerate the move to 100% clean energy and electrified transportation in the U.S. AEE is the only industry association in the U.S. that represents the full range of advanced energy technologies and services, both grid-scale and distributed. Advanced energy includes energy efficiency, demand response, energy storage, wind, solar, hydro, electric vehicles, and more. AEE represents more than 100 companies in the $240 billion U.S. advanced energy industry, which employs 3.2 million U.S. workers.

AEE’s mission is transforming public policy to enable rapid growth of advanced energy businesses. We educate, engage, and advocate at the federal level, in wholesale electricity markets, and more than a dozen states for executive actions, legislation, and regulations that expand the size and value of markets for advanced energy products and services. We also offer business intelligence products and select business development opportunities to help advanced energy companies grow.

 

Position Description

Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) is seeking an experienced Sales Development Representative (“SDR”) to join our membership sales team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of exceeding quota in lead generation, both in calls and emails, while working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. The candidate must be a self-starter with exceptional networking and customer engagement skills who knows how to identify and qualify potential leads. The SDR must also be able to collaborate effectively with a cross-functional team and to build effective long-term customer relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Become an expert in the value, benefits, and features of AEE membership and PowerSuite
  • Research and source leads for outbound campaigns
  • Build and maintain a strong opportunity pipeline to consistently meet or exceed quota
  • Work with AEE’s broader Membership, Marketing, and Sales team to improve outbound lead qualification and sales process
  • Leverage AEE’s broader team of policy initiative leads as subject matter experts for conveying our value proposition to prospects
  • Define success criteria and value propositions with each customer
  • Use a data driven approach to identify inefficiencies and continuously improve our sales process to increase conversion rates, increase the volume of leads and increase product demo and membership sales appointments

Qualifications

  • 2+ years sales development experience with a bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Keen attention to detail, self-motivated and able to seek out leads daily that fit our customer profiles
  • Willingness to quickly learn AEE’s value and business model to then identify companies/individuals that would benefit from our services and be able to articulate those points through email and/or phone calls
  • Ability to actively communicate and coordinate with Sales team via customer and project management tracking tools and virtual meetings/communication platforms
  • Experience in effectively providing a strong value proposition with cold outreach focused on building a pipeline with outbound campaigns
  • High proficiency with CRM platforms and related tools
  • Commitment to operating with a sense of urgency and a positive winning attitude
  • Demonstrable understanding of trade associations and ability to effectively and succinctly communicate this to both inexperienced and experienced audiences
  • Accurate forecasting and pipeline management skills
  • History of being a top producer in previous roles
  • Strong focus on your goals and a belief that your daily, weekly, and monthly activities will help you achieve them
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Basic knowledge of the energy and/or government affairs industry, preferred

Job type: Full-time

Location: Flexible, but Washington, DC or East Coast preferred

Salary: On Target Earnings range starts at $70,000. This position offers a base compensation with the opportunity for incentive compensation based on achieving sales and retention targets.

Start date: September 2022
