If you are looking to play a part in making a positive impact in the world by advancing the revolutionary work of self-driving cars, join us.

We are looking for a Senior Hardware Test Engineer with experience in electromechanical product manufacturing (MFG) and validation testing. In this position, you will be responsible for developing testing solutions for various AV components including: Compute systems, optical sensors, acoustic sensors, transducers, etc. You will partner with EE/ME/FW engineers, TPMs, and our suppliers to ensure comprehensive test coverage in both development and manufacturing settings! This position is eligible for CruiseFlex, which is our hybrid flexible work schedule!

What you’ll be doing:

  • Collaborate with HW/FW/SW teams to participate in design reviews, define functional test coverage, pass/fail criteria, manufacturing image features and API requirements.
  • Develop test methodology and specifications to verify and validate Cruise AV HW designs against functional, performance and reliability requirements, in both development and production environments
  • Partner with suppliers to develop test stations to implement test coverage, which may include IQC, inline, EOL, OQC, Environmental Stress Screening (ESS), Burn-In and REL
  • Test station development involves: mechanical fixture design, metrology HW, harness design, test SW development and data logging/reporting (you may focus on all or some of these areas per your skillset).
  • Own test preparation, authorize test methods, train technicians to complete and oversee test executions to support validation tests at Cruise or our lab partners
  • Analyze test data and share learnings with HW/SW teams to enable FA/RCA and design countermeasures
  • Participate in design reviews and xFMEA meetings to ensure lessons learned and best practices are incorporated
  • Early engagement with cross functional development teams to drive DFT requirements

What you must have:

  • BS in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical engineering or a related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in MFG/HW test experience across electronics, automotive, aerospace or related space
  • Proficient in Python or C++ or any scripting language
  • Familiar with common lab equipment such as: Power Supplies, Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators, DMMs, Logic Analyzers, etc
  • Experience developing test specifications and managing internatinal suppliers / contract manufacturers
  • Familiarity with PCBA and electronics MFG testing such as IQC, inline, EOL, ESS and burn-in
  • A can-do attitude to navigate through ambiguity and break complex challenges into solvable engineering problems

Bonus points!

  • Experience with L4 autonomous vehicle sensor or compute development
  • Experience with LabVIEW/TestStand, Matlab, JMP
  • Experience in test development across high-volume-low-mix, and low-volume-high-mix environments
  • Experience in designing test fixtures (SolidWorks, NX or similar) and test harnesses
