Battery/Cell Manufacturing Engineer

YOUR IMPACT

As our Battery/Cell Manufacturing Engineer, you will design, develop, and validate our manufacturing equipment and process. You’ll work with the cross-functional teams and work closely with design engineers to take the battery cell design from initial concept through prototype, into full production. Enzinc is developing a state-of-the-art zinc cell and battery that will revolutionize the industry. You will be part of that industry defining development. MUST HAVES

  • 5-10 years’ experience in manufacturing, more than 10 preferred

  • Experience transitioning products from design to prototype to production

  • Background designing mechanical equipment, fixturing, and tooling in CAD (Fusion preferred SolidWorks and Catia is also a plus) or other 2D/3D software modeling tools

  • Experience manufacturing batteries and cells, using anode/cathode coating equipment, stacking equipment and conveyance systems preferred

  • Background developing manufacturing processes for new and unique battery and cells

  • Experience introducing new equipment and new processes into a production environment (APQP is a plus)

  • Experience developing automated manufacturing equipment and hand build fixtures and equipment

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and Design manufacturing line layouts for equipment and fixtures
  • Define the manufacturing plan for the production facility
  • Develop manufacturing processes and conduct PFMEAs
  • Collaborate with small teams on in-house development of novel and complex automation equipment
  • Characterize and validate new equipment and fixtures for production implementation
  • Design production workstations for ergonomics and efficiency
  • Drive design for manufacturability (DFM)
  • Develop Work instructions with the Design Engineers for operators
  • Identify and spearhead root cause analysis for process quality and performance issues
  • Be the subject matter expert and support the manufacturing team to succeed including training, documentation and trouble shooting
  • Design and develop equipment and process specs, validate vendor’s abilities to deliver on schedule and support production
  • Ensure design team prioritizes design for manufacture (DFM) to solidify the assembly process is profitable, repeatable, and high quality
  • Solve technically complex problems during commissioning and full production operation
  • Develop new manufacturing technologies that address production problems and output

EDUCATION AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other engineering discipline
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work in high paced environment while managing competing demands and tight deadlines with many projects simultaneously
  • Strong problem-solving skills and aptitude to learn then teach systems quickly
  • Communicate effectively with direct team and with production and design teams
  • Attention to detail with effective data management and highly organized
  • Creative and critical thinker
  • Self-starter who is willing to get their hands dirty
  • Team player who is excited by rapid development cycles
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed
