Job Description

Job title: Content Designer - Flex

Location: London, Bristol, Edinburgh, Lisbon (including Hybrid)

Salary: £45,000 - £60,000

Kaluza wants to power a world where net-zero is within everyone’s reach, by building the platform that will accelerate a sustainable, affordable and resilient energy transition. It’s a huge challenge, but often the toughest problems are the most rewarding to solve.

Since launching in 2019, Kaluza’s technology has been empowering some of the biggest energy suppliers to better serve millions of customers.

From revolutionising billing to smart electric vehicle charging, our real-time cloud platforms transform supplier operations, reducing cost to serve and boosting engagement. And most importantly, they enable suppliers' customers to drive decarbonisation with smart, low carbon technologies.

Where in the world of Kaluza will I be working?

You’ll be part of our Platform Design community and will embed in our Kaluza Flex product team — designed to be the nervous system connecting energy retailers, grid operators, and consumers. Flex will aid us in creating the distributed, consumer-centric, dynamic energy system of the future. Bridging the gap between distributed renewable generation and smart devices, it helps consumers shift their energy consumption to times when there's more renewable energy. This not only saves them money, but enables society as a whole to meet the challenge of decarbonising transport and residential heating/cooling. We’re also supporting this vital shift by building the innovative technology behind unique, market-leading customer propositions like Vehicle to Grid and Drive Anytime Energy Plan with our energy retailer partners.

What will I be doing?

You’ll craft clear, useful content for Flex, our electric vehicle (EV) smart charging app, and for our ecosystem of services for users, clients and partners.

To do so, you’ll pair with our Product Designers, work closely with research and partner with colleagues from Product, Engineering, Data, Marketing and Business Development.

This is an exciting time to join Kaluza. Flex enables EV drivers to charge their cars when the energy is greener and cheaper. The app is being trialled in 4 markets, with this number set to increase over the next year.

Your initial focus will be on iterating the app’s UX copy for Flex. As you learn from these trials, you will help translate insights into effective content that meets the diverse needs of EV drivers, clients and partners across many different markets and cultures.

You’ll do this by:

  • Learning about EV drivers, their needs and behaviours
  • Creating UX copy that facilitates user navigation across on-boarding, feature discovery, error messages and other in-app journeys
  • Auditing our content, creating guidelines and ensuring consistency throughout  the end-to-end experience
  • Identifying opportunities to encourage positive behavioural changes with the right content, at the right time, in the right format and tone
  • Creating educational materials, training documentation, pitches to new clients, landing pages and instructional videos to meet the needs of our users, clients and partners
  • Testing your content experiences with real users, with the help of wireframes, mockups and prototypes
  • Bringing stakeholders into the content design process, adapting to feedback and advocating for the user experience
  • Taking part in design critiques and working in the open through ceremonies like show and tells

Is this the job for me?

The foundations are in place, and our focus turns to getting our product into the hands of our customers.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Experience in designing, writing and editing user-focused product content
  • The ability to adapt your content across multiple markets, products, formats, channels and user types
  • Knowledge of the role content plays on behaviour change
  • Knowledge of lean and agile approaches to design delivery and of design tools such as Figma
  • Experience in validating your solutions, including user testing methodologies, analytics and customer feedback
  • The capacity to craft great experiences that meet the needs of the business and the needs of users with clear and useful content
  • A passion for content design that you can demonstrate by discussing the latest industry trends and patterns
