About the Role:

AppHarvest takes great pride in the internal appearance of our facility and sees it as a reflection of our business.  As a Custodian you will work to create a clean, orderly, and safe environment by performing a wide variety of cleaning and maintenance activities on buildings.

What You’ll Do:

• Adhere to established procedures to provide a safe working environment including complying with OSHA, state/local, federal, and AppHarvest regulations.
• Follow Food Safety plans to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Standards and other 3rd party audits.
• Keep building in clean and orderly condition.
• Perform heavy cleaning duties.
• Sweep, mop, scrub, or vacuum floors.
• Gathers and empties trash.
• Scrubs, sanitizes, and supplies restroom and locker room facilities.
• Dusts furniture, walls, and equipment.
• Cleans windows, mirrors, and partitions with soap and other cleaners.
• Mixes cleaning solutions and chemicals in containers in preparation for cleaning, according to instructions.
• Keep all supplies and cleaning materials secure, free of clutter and hazards, and in assigned storage areas.
• Manages inventory of cleaning supplies. Reorder supplies as needed.
• Operate sanitation equipment, such as power equipment and foam sprayers.
• Properly clean and maintain housekeeping equipment.
• Report maintenance concerns via work order requests to appropriate personnel.
• Maintain employee uniforms ensuring uniforms are cleaned, folded and ready for employees in designated areas.
• Stock restrooms and locker room areas with proper supplies/paper products.

What we’re looking for:

• Previous safety and sanitation experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred.
• Must be able to understand and follow instructions on warning labels on products, and/or their SDS sheets.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
• Ability to lift and move over 50 pounds.
• Knowledge of different cleaning products and tools.
• Time-management and multitasking abilities.
• Organization skills.
• Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work different shifts, nights and/or weekends.

Working conditions / Physical Requirements:

• Must be comfortable working in temperatures ranging between 80-100 degrees
• Ability to stand for a full 8-hour shift on concrete floors
• Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch and bend
• Must be able to work at a steady pace and must be detailed oriented
• Must have a reliable form of transportation
• Open availability to work various work schedules including weekends
• Must be authorized to work in the US
• Must be comfortable working near moving mechanical parts
