Director of Food Safety Toxicology (Remote)

The Nutrition, Health and Food Safety team is looking for a Director of Food Safety Toxicology who will be responsible for the non-microbial safety of products, ingredients and food processes. This individual will work closely with many other teams, including Regulatory, Analytics and R&D.

You Will:

• Set safety specs for products, ingredients and processing aids, including for environmental contaminants and intrinsic phytochemicals.
• Develop a comprehensive non-microbial food safety screening program for products and ingredients.
• Evaluate in-house and external processes for toxicity risk (e.g., residual solvents).
• Collaborate on the design and analysis of any toxicology or human clinical studies.
• Evaluate genetically modified strain changes for impact on final product. Familiarity with the Pariza and Johnson decision tree is helpful. 

You Have:

• A PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, physiology, toxicology or related field.
• 10+ years of work experience in the field of toxicology.
• Extensive food industry background.
• FT (Institute of Food Technologists) experience.
• Food Chemicals Codex and/ Codex Alimentarius experience.
• Experience with genetically modified organisms used for food and ingredient production.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• A highly collaborative nature.
• A passion for the mission of Impossible Foods.

(Colorado only*) Minimum full-time salary of 157,950 + equity + benefits. *Note: Disclosure as required by sb19-085 (8-5-20) of the minimum salary compensation for this role when being hired into our offices in Colorado.
