The NWP team is the heart of Tomorrow.io's weather and climate intelligence of Tomorrow.io with activities from numerical modeling and data assimilation to advance post-processing and machine learning. Our team’s diverse experiences and expertise allows us to offer customized solutions: NWP models, ML Models, and post-processing solutions, for anywhere in the world, rapidly deployed, configured, and optimized according to the clients’ needs.

We are looking for an Atmospheric Scientist to support the scientific development and operational modeling activities.

As an Atmospheric Scientist at the Bespoke Solutions team, you will contribute to the scientific and engineering advancement of capabilities for forecast, hindcast, and reanalysis. You will maintain the current operational  products, support the operationalization of the model development and develop new capabilities for all the subsystems of the Earth, and apply your subject matter expertise as needed in support of our clients.

What you bring:

  • M.Sc. or equivalent in atmospheric science, meteorology, environmental science or closely related field
  • At least 5 years of related experience in numerical weather prediction and use of numerical models (WRF, MPAS, FV3 etc.) and data assimilation (GSI, JEDI, etc)
  • Familiarity with High-Performance Computing and relevant technologies at the mainstream cloud computing providers (AWS, Google, Azure)
  • Experience in statistics and statistical analysis
  • Fluency in Linux/UNIX environments and Shell Scripting (Bash etc.)
  • Proficiency in software development in Python and Fortran
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

You might also have

  • Working experience in operational weather forecasting
  • Fluency in scientific Python — especially the core libraries widely used in the geosciences (numpy, scipy, pandas, xarray, dask, etc) and in Machine Learning (scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc)
  • Develop and operationalize Machine Learning based solutions

So if you are excited by the prospect of working with a new, game-changing technology while owning sales strategy for an entire global region, this team is for you!

If you have reached this point and you are super excited but not sure you check all the boxes - we still want to speak with you! Your passion is priceless. Other things can be learned.
